REFLECTION

The need of cleanliness when working at sea is our theme. One of the
greatest methods to prevent gastrointestinal or infectious diseases like
COVID-19, colds, and flu is to practice good personal cleanliness. The work of
a seafarer is strenuous and stressful, requiring both physical stamina and
sound mental faculties. It is essential to adhere to hygiene standards as
directed in order to avoid quarantine and lower the risk of food poisoning.
These standards were created to improve the living and working conditions of
seafarers aboard.

When different infectious diseases are brought into our country as a


result of travel, it is dangerous for both sailors and other people. Medical
specialists are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to prevent
quarantine at sea ports. They learn about the countries that sailors have
previously visited, determine whether there are any infected passengers on
board, and if so, conduct a thorough medical examination.

It is crucial to follow the rules regarding hygiene on board a ship


because a physically fit person is said to have a high sense of self-worth, is
outgoing, and finds it easier to motivate oneself to work. The importance of
physical health for every seafarer's daily life is being emphasized even though
