BALAGTAS NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL

History of the School

Balagtas National Agricultural High School (BNAHS) is the only public

agricultural high school in the municipality of Balagtas, province of Bulacan. Through
the enactment of Republic Act No. 7119, BNAHS which was formerly known as
Balagtas Agricultural High School (BAHS) was founded on August 22, 1991.

From the temporary holding of classes at the Marciano C. Rivera Elementary

School and the Pulong Gubat Barangay Hall – wherein only four (4) classrooms were
available for use – BAHS was instituted out of the generosity of the esteemed Herminio-
Magdalena Cruz and Eduardo-Lolita Marcelino Families who granted not less than
5,200 square meters of land located in Pulong Gubat, Balagtas, Bulacan. The founding
of BAHS was also made possible through the untiring efforts of then Congressman
Pedro M. Pancho of District II of Bulacan, former Balagtas Mayor Alberto C. Carating,
and previous Pulong Gubat Barangay Captain Eladio E. Gonzales, Jr.

With the guidance of then Officer-in-Charge Mr. Jose F. Eugenio, and only six (6)
faculty members in the names of Ms. Emmanuela Alday (Cruz), Ms. Ma. Emerutchie R.
Capule (Gonzales), Ms. Miguela P. Sorza (Diego), Ms. Analiza San Juan (Ruiz), Mrs.
Analyn P. Baltazar, and Mr. Damaso C. Gaudia, they became the pioneers in teaching
the students.

The increase in the number of enrollees prompted the start of the construction of
more classrooms, laboratories, and buildings to cater to the growing needs of learners
not only from the municipality of Balagtas but from the neighboring municipalities as
well.

In 1999, under the leadership of the former principal Mr. Julian S. Canonoy, the
Parents-Teachers Community Association (PTCA) was formed and a Computer Literacy
Program was initiated. This program paved the way for students and teachers to be
trained and be technologically-adept in the changing face of education. In the same
year also, the school received 20 computer units at the onset of the Personal
Computers for Public Schools, a joint program of the Department of Education (DepED)
and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

BALAGTAS NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL

Through the joint efforts of the Local Government Unit of Balagtas and former
Governor Josie M. Dela Cruz, BAHS Annex Campus I which is located at Mariano
Homes, Borol 1st, Balagtas Bulacan was established in October 2003 . This first annex
campus initially had a two-story building with eight (8) classrooms. Not long after, the
founding of Annex Campus II located at Northville VI, Santol, Balagtas became a reality
through the shared efforts of the Local Government Unit of Balagtas and the Filipino-
Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry which donated a six-classroom building;
this became operational in August 2008.

In 2009, Balagtas Agricultural High School (BAHS) changed its name to what
people generally know now as Balagtas National Agricultural High School (BNAHS).
Although the school is primarily an agricultural high school, it still offers many Technical
Vocational specializations like Computer Systems Servicing, Technical Drafting,
Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Electronic Product Assembly, Cookery, Dressmaking and
Tailoring, and Food Processing that promote livelihood skills.

In 2012, BNAHS was the only school in Bulacan and one of the three schools in
Region III to be the pilot testing ground of the Senior High School curriculum. At
present, BNAHS is the only public high school that offers Senior High School in the
municipality of Balagtas. Upon the enactment of the Enhanced Basic Education Act of
2013, the school fully implemented the K to 12 program by having Academic and TVL
tracks in its Senior High School track offerings.

Within the school compound also is Balagtas Technical Vocational College

(BTVC), a local government unit-funded technical vocational training program, which
offers Bachelor’s degree programs such as BS Information Technology, BS Agriculture,
and Bachelor of Elementary Education. BTVC is an extension of programs from
Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) in San Ildefonso, Bulacan.
