“Rainbow Rain Experiment”

Intro:
Hi! My name is Jaliya, and I am here today to do a really cool
experiment,called Rainbow Rain.

Introducing of materials:
In this experiment we will be needing:
 Clear jar
 Water
 Shaving cream; and
 Food coloring

Science Behind:
The rainbow rain experiment works on the principle of varying densities of
the materials involved. It is also a great way to understand how actual rain works.
Shaving cream is less dense as compared to water. This is why it float on top of the
water surface, just like clouds floating on the top layers of the atmosphere. The food
color on the other hand has a higher density than the shaving cream. Therefore
when we gently add a few drops of food color into the mix(so as not to disturb the
layers), they slowly start drifting down the shaving cream layer and entering the
water layers. The shaving cream layer therefore acts like a semi-permeable
membrane. Similarly, when water vapor in the atmosphere start condensing, it gets
heavier and starts drifting down the tiny ice crystals and dust particles that the
clouds made up of. When the tiny water droplets become heavy enough and reach
the bottom of the clouds, they fall and we get rain.

Ending:
I hope you learn something and enjoy this experiment.
