Eureka!

Lesson: Multiple Alleles

1.Concept: Multiple Allelism
Definition/Example: Occurs when there are more than two alleles present in the same locus of a
gene thus it is a non-mendelian trait.
2.Concept: Blood Type
Definition/Example: A, B, O
3.Concept: Mice
Definition/Example: often used as lab partners for scientist because they can reproduce easily
and a good representative for mammals.
4.Concept: Thomas Morgan
Definition/Example: an American evolutionary biologist born in 1866.
5.Concept: William Ernest Castle
Definition/Example: The most significant force in early genetic work on the mouse.

Guide Questions:

Science in Action

In the future, I will take Vitamin A so that in the future none of my children will get this
diseases.

Concept Master

- Mendel used Pisums in his observations.

- Polydactyly is a dominant trait causing extra fingers and toes.
- Snap Dragon or Antirrhinum majus is a very classical example of this is the case of a flower.
- The Punnett square is a square diagram that is used to predict the genotypes of a cross or
breeding experiment.
- when a Dominant allele is present in the genotype of an organism, that allele should always be
expressed.
- Gregor Mendel studied the pea plant.

Words of Wisdom
1. PUNNETT SQUARE
2. CODOMINANCE
3. INCOMPLETE DOMINANCE

My Science Journal
Three things I have learned from the topic:
1. The Punnett Square
2. The Codominance and Incomplete Dominance
3. Who studied the pea plant.

Two things that caught my interest:

1. Making a Punnett square
2. Snap Dragon or Antirrhinum majus.

One question that I have in mind after the topic:

1. None
