Diego Armando Maradona (1960-2020) was an Argentine footballer and coach.

Is recognised
by numerous former players as one of the greatest footballers in history. He has also been
considered by some to be the greatest player in the history of World Cup football, and was
voted the best footballer of the 20th century.

Maradona was born in Lanús, but grew up in Villa Fiorito, and at the age of nine he began his
love for football, he started playing in a team known as "Los Cebollitas", and immediately
stood out among all his teammates. His life took an unexpected turn when he was signed by
"Argentino Juniors". Maradona was the top scorer in the Argentinean tournaments of 1978,
1979 and 1980.

When Diego Maradona passed away in 2020, at the age of 60, he was given a huge funeral,
thousands of fans came to say goodbye for the last time, and the president of Argentina
declared three days of national mourning. The presidents of France, Mexico, Ireland, Brazil and
even Pope Francis himself expressed their condolences. This shows that he was respected all
over the world for his courage when he played.
