PH transportation crisis continues to hurt the economy

Almost millions of Filipino people depend on mass public transportation to get to their
personal errands or respective destinations. As evident as it seems, transportation is a
component that will surely help the country support its own economic growth as moving people
and resources is a big factor to sustain growth. But this has been a problem for every Filipino
commuter and utility drives as time goes by as it can not be denied that the transportation crisis
in the country continues to worsen. Filipino commuters are traveling almost 2-4 hours a day just
to get on time on their shifts. A lot of their energy is being wasted in commuting that eventually
affects their over all productivity within the day. Not only that, drivers are also experiencing
aches in their income as cost of fuel continues to increase. This has been a problem that
continues to affect Philippine growth as the Japan International Cooperation Agency revealed in
2014 that the country suffers 2.4 billion pesos in losses daily then it continues to worsen as in
2018 it loses 3.5 billion pesos in income on an everyday basis. It is estimated by the Move as
One Coalition that if this problem continues to worsen, there will be a shortage of supply in
transportation in 2030 even if all Build, Build, build programs are completed as the coalition
stressed out that most of it are only invested for road-based infrastructure and not for
comprehensive solutions. If only the government also relies on Science and Technology as the
center for development, there will be plenty of bike lane and walkable roads that will ensure
safety and efficiency of every Filipino People.
