BEST FRIENDS

Aminah, Karthiga and Mei Ling (0) is best friends since they joined the Fitness Club
together. Fitness Club offers various types of activities for all ages, from teens to senior
citizens. This is why they (1) join this club even if they have different characters. Aminah is a
very active and an outgoing girl. She (2) like to join different kinds of sports. She plays
badminton, softball and netball. These (3) were her favourite sports. On the other hand,
Karthiga is a quiet girl. She (4) spend most of her time joining yoga and dance classes. She
(5) was a shy type, except when she is around her two best friends. As for Mei Ling, she
likes to (6) participating in parkour and skateboarding events. She is not only friendly (7) and

Revise, Revise, Revise
No one likes exam questions, but doing (0) question from old exam papers is a
valuable revision tool as well as (1) an means to practising your exam technique. The
'toughest way to do questions is to do them in strictly limited time without (2) look at your
notes. This is the (3) close to actual exam conditions, but may be a bit scary.
A less head-on approach is to look at the question (and if necessary, revise the topic)
and (4) thought it over in unlimited time. Then close your books, start the clock (5) or write
your answer. Once you have finished, put your answer away for a while, then go back to it
and try to mark it yourself, using the book if need be. This is not a substitute (6) by teacher
marking, but you can learn a lot from assessing your own efforts.
Working with friends can be double-edged - it is easy to end up (7) talk about work
rather than getting on with it. However, when revision really begins to drag, you might find
taking turns to quiz each other (8) add an enjoyable mix of competition and mutual support.

REVISION – PART 3
Sarawak Longhouse

Last August my family and I went to Sarawak for one week. As this was our
first visit we wanted to experience living in a longhouse because we had heard so
much about them. These longhouses are located in the interior of Sarawak. To get to
these longhouses one can either travel for a day on the road or use a boat.
The longhouses are built on stilts and normally have 30 to 50 rooms, one for
each family. As the longhouse we stayed in was built high above the ground we had
to climb up a specific tree trunk to get to the longhouse. These longhouses were
once home to the many local ethnic groups, especially the Iban and Bidayuh.
My uncle, who belongs to the Bidayuh ethnic group, took us to his longhouse
located in the Penrissen area. We travelled by road to get there. According to my
uncle the most popular and frequently visited longhouses by tourists are the
Kampong Benuk and Annah Rais longhouses.
The journey from Kuching to my uncle's longhouse took about an hour and a
half. When we reached his longhouse we were greeted with traditional dances and
music and served tuak, a special rice wine. We stayed in the longhouse for three
days and had the time of our life.

PC FAIR

Dear Justin,

How are you? I haven't heard from you for some time. Anyway, I am writing to
tell you about my recent visit to the PC Fair that was held at the Seremban
Convention Centr It was originally supposed to run for only two days, the 15th and
16th of March, but due to the large number of visitors the organisers decided to
extend it for another day.

Computer Allies, the organisers of the PC Fair invited other computer dealers
to showcase their products so people could buy computers and computer
accessories that they liked from these dealers. We were spoilt for choice!

There were many activities as well such as a computer exhibition, quizzes

and even a Young Scientist Competition. I was really amazed to learn how much our
young children know about computers. There was one section where children could
spend time watching movies.

The PC Fair was open for 12 hours, from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. for the three
days It was really crowded but people were very happy that they had made it to the
Fair Many said it was worth it and that they are looking forward to such PC Fairs in
future For your information, Justin, since you are interested in buying a new desktop
for your father, there will be another PC Fair in November at the same place. I hope
you will be able to visit that one.

Regards,
Julian
