The second wave of COVID-19 has forced business entities to rely
on virtual work. This new situation brought about by COVID-19
leads to advantages and disadvantages for the employees.
On the one hand, employees’ virtual work opportunities support
employees to improve their skills related to the use of social media
and computer-assisted Web portals, so that they can work safely at
home without going to a formal office, and have opportunities to
spend more time with their families. On the other hand, employees
rely on virtual work, which can cause psychological and technical
problems. Virtual management makes it difficult for leaders to
manage employees with low information technology capabilities,
poor Internet connections at home, and coordination with multiple
business stakeholders.
The theme “Dark and Bright Side of Social Media in Current
Normal” provides a broad scope for researchers who are
committed to making contributions in different research fields,
such as marketing, human resources, psychology, cognitive
science, organizational behavior, social psychology,
and professional ethics.
