LESSON 6

Hi there!
This is the 6th episode of the 504 Course! How ya doin’? Did you think about what I said
in the previous podcast? Did you do anything about it? I hope it changed the way you
look at learning English, or any other language.
I know that what I said is not really popular these days. I mean most people prefer to
find the easiest approach to learning English, the shortest route, and so they do not
want to rely on themselves. They want a comprehensive package or class that provides
them with the best of everything. This is why a lot of language learners get deceived by
companies that advertise a package for all the levels with everything you need to learn
English.
Once I had a student who really wanted to learn English as quickly as possible. He was
an employee of a multinational company. And since his clients were mostly foreigners,
he had to learn English. He bought one of those packages against my advice. And guess
what? After a couple of months he realized that his English hadn’t improved much. He
said that the company behind that package was defrauding people of a lot of money
by their false advertising.
Those packages could help you on your way, true, but most packages neglect one or
two English learning skills. For example, they might focus on speaking, but not writing.
So as long as you don’t use English in your daily life, and don’t speak it daily, everything
else that you do, or buy will undoubtedly be useless.
So, all I’m saying is that if you want to learn English, and you want to find a thorough
all-in-one answer for it, I can’t help you with that. You have to find it yourself. And
remember that every product or way has its defects, so instead of trying to detect them
and then complain about them, try to get the good part of each method and then put
them together like the pieces of a puzzle.
Do you agree with what I said?
