The new series “32” generators protocol is a super-set of the previous H8 series.
The biggest difference is in the operational mode of the device. The “32” series has two
mode: TEST and ADVANCED, were:
TEST: Operate always in the step (or phase as called in the old protocol) 0, thus no time
can be specified.
ADVANCED: Operate in step 1 to 30, like the old generators.

By sending commands: 0x13"M",0x13"W",0x13"T",0x13"p",0x13"R", the device switch to


ADVANCED mode, for compatibility with older devices.

There are only bit differences in the old commands :

Commands 0x10 and 0x11


 “U” Now output number accepted from “1” to “8”. Options from “9” to “13” are
added
 “I” Now input number accepted from “1” to “8”. Options “:””;””<” are now “10” to
“12”. Options from “13” to “18” are added
 “A” (Running test nr.) Command is accepted but this function is not implemented.

Commands 0x12 and 0x13


 “M” In DC-Voltage mode, positive and Negative value can be specified.
 “R” Exponential ramp is not implemented.
 “E” (Second value)This command is not implemented.
 “L” This command is not fully implemented because of the new Waveform setting
command.

Command 0x14
 “E” The PAUSE is now “8”. A new status “CYCLE_PAUSE” is added.
 “N” (Running test nr.) Returns always 0.
 “G” (Temperature)This command is not implemented.
