1. What is the importance of the belief in the angels of Allah in Islam? The belief in angels of Allah is one of the basic foundations of Islam. A Muslim should believe in angels. 2. Can one be a true Muslim if he denies their existence? No, no one can be a true Muslim if he denies their existence. 3. What are angels? What are they created from? The angels are spirits. They are made of light. They are neither men nor women. 4. Is it correct to suppose that the angel’s wings have muscles and feathers similar to those of birds? Why? Do the angels really have wings? To suppose that the angel’s wings have muscles and feathers similar to those of birds, is wrong because the real nature of angels is known to Allah alone. Yes, according to Quran, the angels really have wings. 5. Can angels take any form they like? Yes, they can take any form they like with Allah’s permission. 6. How many angels are there? Mention the names of the four mighty angels. Only Allah knows the exact number of angels. There are however, four mighty angels: Jibreel, Israfeel, Mikaeel and Azraeel.

7. Can we see the angels? Are all angels equal in grades? No, we cannot see the angels and they are also not equal in grades. Some are close to Allah others are not. 8. What are the ‘Kiraman Katibin?’ What is their function? The word ‘Kiraman Katibin’ means ‘The noble recorders’. They are the angels who keep the records of people’s good and evil deeds. 9. What is the most significant duty of the angels? The most significant duty of the angels is to bring Divine Revelation to Allah’s Prophets. 10.How do we know that the angels take turn among us by day and by night? According to the Hadith, the angels functioning on the earth take turns by day and by night. The angels working by hours of daylight depart from the earth after the Asr prayer. New angels take up the night assignment. They gather together at Fajr and Asr prayer. 11.Can angels make mistakes? No, angels cannot make mistakes. 12.Mention briefly the various functions that the angels attend. The various functions of the angels are as follows: 1. They descend on the virtuous to comfort them. 2. They came to help the prophets and pious to fight the enemies of Allah. 3. Some angels are posted in Heaven, while others in Hell. 4. Angels also protect us from all sorts of evils at Allah’s command. 5. Some angels inflict punishment on people and nations by Allah’s leave. 6. Some are assigned to take lives of people on their death. 7. Some present themselves at congregations and gatherings where Allah’s name is pronounced.
