When it comes to snacks I prefer salt over sweets. Yet a side effect of salt is that it makes me thirsty. Thats why bars usually serve salty pretzels or peanuts free of charge, to get people to drink more. (So Im told.) Jesus used salt as an illustration of how we should live. Our lives should have such joy, peace and purpose that we create a spiritual thirst in others. You can apply this however you want, but salt also spices food up. Who wants fries with no salt? Salt also preserves. As a child I remember rubbing salt on meat to be put in a smoke house. I didnt know why at the time. I just did it. So pick any of the three: Thirst, spice or preservative. Live in such a way that you attract people to Christ, improving the flavor of life or preventing decay of values. By the way, salt does best once it leaves the shaker. On Sunday nights we do important training that there is too little time for on Sunday morning. Things like missions, music, and deeper Bible Study. Guess what Ive discovered? Those involved on Sunday nights are usually stronger and better Christians. Children and youth benefit the most. We have just begun our new Fall P.M. schedule. I hope you can attend. Mike Atcheson will be in concert on Sunday, August 21, at 6:15 p.m. The singing is always great and the worship even better. Plan to come and invite a guest to join you. Bulletin bloopers are not new. Someone sent me this blooper recently. Barbara remains in the hospital. She is having trouble sleeping and requests tapes of our pastors sermons. Why would someone send that to me? Our Hispanic ministry continues to grow. Recently they had 35 in worship plus several new families. Juan Santana is their pastor and does a wonderful job of sharing Christ. On Sunday night, August 28, they will have a special worship service with other churches in our area. Continue to pray for Gods blessings. Thanks for being a salty church. You sure make my life better. Ill see you Sunday,
