1.0 Purpose
The general purpose is to ensure that a Safe System of Work (SSOW) applies to the risks associated with
the installation of floodlights, cables and panelboard. Each activity has been carefully considered and
appropriate controls implemented. The specific purpose of this Method Statement is to describe the
procedure of the installation in order to reduce or totally avoid incidents which will cause fatality, injury,
delays and additional cost.
2.0 Objective
This method statement is critical to the health, safety and environment (HSE) of the activity it relates to. It
is to be followed and adhered, any deviation or changes must be first authorized by the Client, Project
Manager and HSE Manager.
3.0 Scope
We Sham General Services will be remove the old MH flood lights, install new LED flood lights, steel
headframe and supports, electric cables and panelboards to enclose the LED controllers/drivers.
4.0 Procedures
A. LIFTING OF MATERIALS
The materials to lifted are LED Flood Lights and Head Frames each weighing 15kg to 30kg. It will be lifted
one piece at a time. The task will be done using rope manually pulled up to the existing platform on top of
the 15m high light pole.
i. Existing Platform
10. Correct lamp drivers/ballasts are to be installed for the lighting fixtures.
11. Before installation all wires should be tested for continuity and insulation resistance. Test Reports
should be submitted to Engineers for approval and records shall be maintained.
12. LED Drivers Should be installed in a weatherproof enclosure with ample space for cables/wires to
run and enough space for ventilation. Should requirement arise ventilation fans with louvers will be
provide for supplementary cooling.
13. LED Floodlights shall be tested according to manufacture guidelines and Client specified procedure.
Report to be recorded and officially submitted to the Client.
4. Ensure the materials are stored properly and there is no mark of damage or deformity of any kind
before installing the matrials.
5. Mark in the back plate location of the LED Drivers, DIN rails, terminal blocks, MCCB and slotted
PVC wire trunking as per approved shop drawings and install accordingly.
6. Drill the holes and punch the knock-outs. Remove sharp edges using deburring tool or file. Provide
grommet to protect the cables from damaged. Cover unused holes and knock-outs with rubber seals.
7. Panel doors and ground bar shall be supplied with proper earthing connections as consistent with
authorized shop drawings.
8. The whole panel assemble shall be erected on concrete pedestal as specified in the approved shop
drawings, using anchor bolts.
7.0 Equipment
Before any operation, ensure that the relevant safety checks have been undertaken on the equipment and any
other tools being used:
● Poly Rope 10mm diameter ● Hack Saw Frame with Blade

● Measuring Tape ● PPE (Hi-vis Safety Vest, Hard Hat & Goggle
● A-ladder (non-metallic) Glass, Shoes)
● Electric Drill & Grinder ● Body Harness (for working at height)
● Multimeter and insulation resistance tester ● Dust Mask
(Megger) ● First Aid
10.0 Responsibilities
Project Manager
• Project Manager shall be responsible for overall project execution.
• He will coordinate with the client and head office.
• He is responsible for progress monitoring, attending review meetings and resource management.
• Overall, he will be responsible for the timely completion of the project following all contractual requirements.
Project Engineer
• Ensure that Flood Light installation are carried out according to the specifications and approved method
statement.
• Provision of all necessary information and distribution of responsibilities to site team in consultation with the
Site Supervisor.
• The work progress is monitored following the required program and reports through the Site Supervisor.

Site Supervisor
• The carrying-out the work and the proper distribution of all the available resources in coordination with the
Project Engineer.
• Daily reports of the works are implemented and achieved. Coordinated with Project Engineer for future
planning with the Project Manager.
• Incorporate all the QC and Safety requirements as requested by the concerned Engineer.
• Meeting with any type of unforeseen incident or requirement.
