INVITATION TO THE 4-YEAR CADET TRAINING PROGRAM OF THE CENTRAL POLICE


UNIVERSITY UNDER THE DEPARTMENT OF MARITIME POLICE, REPUBLIC OF CHINA
(TAIWAN)

The Central Police University (CPU), Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of China
(Taiwan), is offering undergraduate scholarship program for PCG. The cadet training
course provided by the Department of Maritime Police (DMP, de facto Coast Guard)
CPU, will include academic programs and law enforcement coaching sessions
concerning coast guard missions. The course aims to build professional skills and
academic knowledge and networking among the officials of government law
enforcement agencies in Republic of China, Taiwan.

The program also consists of formal classroom training subjects such as:

A. Oceanography
B. Nautical Metereology
C. Marine Physics
D. Marine Environmental Science
E. Ocean Observation and Research
F. United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)
G. International Law
H. Navigation (Celestial navigation, geo navigation, regulations for preventing
collisions at sea, navigation equipment)
I. Engineering (Auxiliary Engine and Main Engine Generator
J. Marine Environmental Protection/ Oil Spilling, Handling knowledge
K. Criminal law, Code of Criminal Procedure, Forensic Science
L. Radar Communication (Marine Communication and Marine English)

An integral part of the cadet training program is a rigorous physical education and
physical fitness program which demands that candidates arrive in good physical
condition for training at sea and perform calisthenics (i.e., martial arts, use of force,
shooting).

QUALIFICATIONS

Interested applicants should meet the following requirements:

1. Natural born Filipino Citizen;


2. Must have reached seventeen (17) years old but not more than twenty-two
(22) by 26 June 2023;
3. Must be atleast 5.2 feet in height for male and atleast5.0 feet in height for
female
4. Must be medically and physically fit for swimming/ scuba diving;
5. Must pass the PCG Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Swimming Qualification
Test (SQT); CPU provides intensive swimming training and daily morning
swimming exercise);
6. Must be at least High School Graduate;
7. Single and with no legal dependents;
8. Must have no derogatory records or legal impediments;
9. Must have an excellent command of English language and communication
skills;
10. Must be willing to undergo 3-5 month Mandarin Language Course (online or
taught in person);
11. Must pass the American Language Course Placement Test (ALCPT) with the
score of 85% to be administered at Camp Aguinaldo after the passing the PFT
and SQT.

BENEFITS AND SERVICE OBLIGATION:

Upon completion of the 4-year cadet training program, PCG Cadet will be
commissioned as an active PCG Officer with the rank of ENSIGN and will render a
minimum of eight (8) years service obligation to the PCG.

3. Personal History Sheet (PHS)
4. Scanned copy of High School Report Card or College Transcript of Records
(Translated in English)
5. Scanned copy of PSA Birth Certificate
6. Colored Whole-Body Picture (white background) wearing white-tshirt and
Maong pants
7. Essay stating reasons for joining the program and how do you think your 4-
year experience in Central Police University can help the PCG and your
expectations on coast guard career.

PROCESS:

1. Submission of Application Requirements


2. If qualified, application will be informed thru email or call/text informing that
they will undergo and must pass the PFT/SQT (facilitated by the PCG)
3. If applicants met the required score of the PFT and SQT, they will be informed
and will be interviewed by the PCG and TECO via face-to-face/online
platform.
4. Deliberation of the PCG Education and Training Board (PCGETB) for qualified
nominees.
5. Once the PCG-ETB selected nominees, same will be forwarded to CPCG for
approval
6. Approved nominees will be submitted to the Taipei Economic Cultural Office
(TECO) in the Philippines
7. TECO will evaluate the submitted PCG nominees and will approve 2-4
scholars

Date of PFT/SQT: 20 January 2023
Date of ALCPT: 24 January 2023
Assessement of PFT/SQT and other requirements : Febuary 2023
Date of Interview with TECO: 1st or 2nd week March 2023
Selection of Applicants (PCG-ETB): 3rd or 4th week of March 2023
Submission of Admission Requirements of Final Nominees to TECO: 2 nd week of
April 2023
Mandarin Training/Examination: 3rd week of April to August 2023
Announcement of Admission to Academy: June 2023
Registration, Visa Application: July 2023
Oath-Taking: August 2023
Departure to CPU: September 2023
