How to replace the front

brake pads of disc brake on


Peugeot 407

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Tighten the parking brake lever.


Perform the replacement of brake pads in complete set for
each axis. This provides effective braking.

Do not wash the brake elements with gasoline, diesel fuel


or gasoline-based solvents.

Observe the safety procedures! when brake pads work,


brake dust is formed. Therefore, do not use compressed
air and do not inhale dust when cleaning the brake pads.

Place wedge blocks under the rear wheels. Loosen wheel bolts on standing on the ground

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.

Remove the front wheels.

a pad.

Before installing the pads, make sure that the guide pins
move freely in the caliper bracket, and make sure the guide
pin rubber dust caps are not damaged. If the move is difficult,
grease the caliper guide pins with a lubricant.

Clean the brake caliper bracket from dirt and


dust.

Using a special tool press in the brake caliper

Remove the expansion tank cap and check the brake fluid
level in it. When the piston is pressed into the wheel cylinder,
brake fluid is pressed out of the cylinder into the tank. If
necessary, pump out the fluid.

Note that the ABS hydraulic unit is very sensitive to the


composition of the hydraulic fluid. Even small particles of dirt
can damage it.

Make sure the pads are installed with linings facing the disc.

Install the caliper, screw the new guide pin bolt


and tighten it (torque 29 N·m).

Without starting the engine, press the brake


pedal several times until you feel significant
resistance.

Connect the wiring socket of the brake pad wear


indicator.

Install the wheel. Lower the car and working in a cross order,
tighten the wheel bolts (torque 90 N·m).
