Let the pupils visualize and identify how 1 whole of
pizza/watermelon will be divided into halves/quarters.
2. What can you say about the sizes of the two semi-circles?
(The sizes of the two semi -circles are equal.)
Explain to the pupils that when a whole is divided into two parts
of equal size we call each part one-half, Write one – half on the
board, the word and the symbol. Write ½ on each part.
Tell the pupils that each part is one-half of the whole bread.
Write the word ”one-half” and symbol ( 1/2 ) on the board.
Let the pupils get a piece of pad paper. Then let them divide it
into two equal sizes. It might be horizontal or vertical, as long as
they can divide it into two equal size.
