GAD or General and Development is a development approach that seeks to equalize the status
and condition of and relations between women and men by influencing the processes and
outputs of policymaking, planning, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation so
that they would deliberately address the gender issues and concerns affecting the full
development of women.
Women in Development and Nation Building Act ( Republic Act No. 7192)
- It promotes the integration of women as full and equal partners with men in development
and nation building.
- Gender and Development or GAD prevents the gender inequality and discrimination. In
which, GAD seeks and gives equal value to both men and women. It initiates and adopts
sustainable and efficient programs, projects and services to effectively promote gender
equality and women empowerment. Promotes effective economic development
programs and provides infrastructure support for mobility and accessibility of all.
- GAD ceases the social hierarchy in which men hold power over women in political and
personal, public and private, settings. Socializing men and women into roles that
influences the internalization of social hierarchy and replicate power dynamics which
perpetuate gender inequality and discrimination.
