COVID-19 CRISIS – STRESS TEST FOR COMPANIES RECRUITMENT AND

RETENTION

Now-a-days we can see our world; it is suffering from a severe pandemic Covid-19 caused by
virus called Corona. It affects each and every individual without considering specific age
group. If we pay close attention to the current situation we can observe that in this critical
period where Covid-19 is at its peak point all around the world it becomes a challenge for
the survival. This Covid-19 is a great threat to a numerous businesses, organizations and
systems as the most of the individuals become immobile. As per the rate of individuals are
affected by Covid-19 the graph of every business is going down and as a result the rate of
unemployment is increasing with each passing day. But only few strong systems will survive
in this economical competition.
Covid-19 crisis would lead the upper class management to analyze the situation and
make the strategies how to save their organizations economically and how they manage to
keep the essential staff in their system. Even before this Pandemic, Singaporean Tech Firms
had excellent high voluntary turnover rates. In Asia, most of the countries are already facing
struggling, as this crisis continues, in the future, the companies will face difficulty for the
enrollment of the new employees.
There are companies who send their employees to home where they can precede
their work from the home for their safety. But there are companies which don’t allow their
workers to do their work from home which keep them in danger and the chances becomes
higher to be affected by Covid-19 and as a result the rate of unemployment increases.
Most of the companies are now lay-off their employees, they are not doing anything
for their companies and they are send for a leave from the company but without giving any
pay to them, but not completely detach from the company. This is a temporary one
situation. As the upper class management are seeing on the everything related to how they
can make saving by cutting their expenses it is also a part of their strategy. Other strategies
also involve as the work load is reduce so the companies will cut the sum percent of salary it
may be from 15% - 20%. Other way they try to do so it to reduce the few working hours
from the total working hours, in this way the number of working days also become less due
to less work load. In this way most of the employees remain the part of their companies.
Most reliable and excellent companies involve their staff in every decision making so that
they can be aware of the true condition of their company, the management keep in touch
with their staff every week through meetings, explain the strategies how they are cut the
costs and assure their working staff that the situation is temporary and everything gets to
normal when the situation becomes under control. This keep the staff to stick to their
company and loyalty bond forms between the staff and the management, and in this way
staff would their day productive while working from the home, as this crisis leads to
unemployment which is not more than a stress. The salary cutting will only be useful
strategy only when upper management will also share this pain, with the employees and it
will lead to a good teamwork spirit.
On the other hand if the upper class management doesn’t share the pain that the
employees are facing of salary cutting it will lead to reduction of staff for their own luxury.
So it shows no surety of job for the next hiring employees so it makes their image not so
good.
So, the Covid-19 crisis goes further the number of employed individuals becomes less but
one should make profile attractive so that one can make you hire at once and the
companies should not be so rude with their employees, after all the crisis may end one day
and your bad behavior will not be in your favor. After the crisis the survival will become
hard than the expected in the future, it is good to retain the talented, loyal and hard-
working staff in your company so it will be good in future for the company after the crisis.
As after the crisis the stability of company is more important to fight an economic war, and
it is only possible for a company when only you retain a talented staff, otherwise on hiring a
new staff after crisis it would take 3-6 months to command on a work for a particular field.
