Is there a relationship between Hydrology and Climate Change?

Hydrology mainly deals with the occurrence, distribution, movement and properties of the waters of the
Earth. It also covers heat, water and air movement which basically includes climate and weather.
Hydrology indeed has an association with Climate to some extent, and thus I believe that it is also has a
relationship with Climate Change. One example is how Hydrology deals with the Hydrologic or Water
Cycle. An article released by the World Economic Forum states that the Climate Crisis is making the
water cycle spin faster and faster. “The acceleration of the water cycle has implications both at the
ocean and on the continent, where storms could become increasingly intense,” said the Institute of
Marine Sciences. This effect of Climate Change on the Hydrologic Cycle just goes to show how aspects of
Hydrology is interrelated somehow to Climate Change. Precipitation and Evaporation are both processes
involve in the Water Cycle, still part of Hydrology. Climate causes Global Temperature to rise, thus more
evaporation occurs, which, in turn, increases overall precipitation. Hydrology, just from the name itself is
largely related to water and with our Earth being 71% water, to which Earth’s water is also related to the
Climate, and in turn Climate Change. So I say, there’s still somewhat a relationship between Hydrology
and Climate Change.
