Abstract
Innovation leads to the solution of a problem or improvement of the current solution or brings in a
break through or disruptive solution and the innovator becomes relevant. To have a meaningful life,
one needs to remain relevant and needs to continue to make meaningful and innovative contributions.
More Innovative contributions make a person more relevant. Innovation brings in satisfaction to the
innovator and is useful for others. So, it is better to be known to others who may be benefited through
publication or presentation. That increases the visibility of the innovator and the organization or
community he belongs to. On the contrary, someone without any relevant contributions may become
irrelevant and may even end up being redundant. The speaker would like to share his views on the
importance of innovation to keep some one relevant. He would also like to discuss, how an innovative
mind can be nurtured.

Processes, Membrane Preparation and Transport Phenomena in Membranes, Membrane Distillation
and Membrane Contactors, and Catalytic Membrane and Catalytic Membrane Reactors. He is
involved in many International Societies, Scientific Committees, Editorial Boards, and International
Advisory Boards. Currently Chairman of the Section on "Membrane Engineering" of the European
Federation of Chemical Engineering and coordinator of EU-EUDIME Doctorate School on

Academician Semenov Medal of Russian Academy of Engineering Science, MIAC International
Award for his contributions in the field of Membrane Science and Technologies, etc. He is author of
more than 800 scientific papers, 22 patents and 24 books on Membrane Science and Technology
Abstract
Membrane engineering is one of the fields most involved in the technological innovations needed to
address the problems that characterize our world today and in the future (i.e. water scarcity, scarcity
of raw materials and energy consumption). They offer the possibility to support sustainable industrial
growth despite the growing demand for materials, energy and products. Membrane-integrated
operations are already dominant technologies in molecular separations and have established
applications in many industrial processes such as water desalination, wastewater treatment, agri-food,
chemical and petrochemical industries, etc. There have been significant advances in industrial
applications as well in recent years. Currently they are also becoming interesting as membrane
contactors. Virtually all unit operations typical of process engineering could be redesigned as
_membrane_ unit operations (membrane distillation and membrane crystallizer). However, a good
understanding of material properties and transport mechanisms as well as the realization of innovative
functional materials with improved properties are the key issues for the further development of this
important technology, which requires further intensive research both at academic level and industrial
level. Its redesign in mining, the introduction of membrane systems in the extraction of minerals from
sea and brackish waters, its contribution to space technology and the redesign of agribusiness for the
growth of membrane technology are typical examples. Here, we identify the most interesting aspects
of membrane engineering in some strategic industrial sectors and, in particular, in water treatment and
agriculture. The integration of traditional membrane units with innovative systems is also underlined
in order to exploit the potential advantages deriving from their synergistic applications. Integrated
membrane systems are also providing opportunities for significant innovation in agriculture.

Abstract
With the rapid growth of mobile computing and social networking technology, social network has
extended its popularity from the Internet to mobile domain. Ad hoc networks are autonomous systems
which comprise a collection of mobile nodes thatusewirelesstransmission for communication. They
are self-organized, self-configuredand self-controlled infrastructure-less networks. In the last few
years, mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) and wireless sensor networks(WSN) have seen increased
adaption in a variety of disciplines because they can be deployed with simple infrastructures and
virtually no central administration. This type of network can be set up or deployed anywhere and
anytime because it poses very simple infrastructure setup and no or minimal central administration.
In particular, the development of MANET and WSN provides tremendous opportunities in areas
including disaster recovery , defense , health care, researchers , students, and industrial
environments. A self-organizing network is a network that can automatically extend, change,
configure and optimize its topology, coverage, capacity, cell size, and channel allocation, based on
changes in location, traffic pattern, interference, and the situation or environment. Each node in these
networks acts as transreceiver andcommunicates via hops when some nodes are out of coverage area.
Due to high mobility the topology of the networks changes dynamically, thus making routing very
challenging. Only sender intends that receiver should “understand” message contents. But because of
universal electronic connectivity electronic eavesdropping, viruses, hackers and electronic fraud can
threaten thereby putting special importance on security. However, because of proper attention on the
area of network security there is significant development of practical available applications to enforce
network security. In MANETs and WSNs, nodes may exhibit various types of misbehavior. Node’s
misbehavior may be categorized into two broad types: Malicious behavior intention is to attack and
damage the network, Selfish behavior intention is to save power, memory and CPU cycle. A
malicious node delays packet forwarding to ensure that time-to-live (TTL) of the packets are expired
so that the packets do not reach the destination. In order to prevent various attacks, which WSNs and
MANET suffers, the possible solutions can be adapted. Trust tells the degree of reliability of other
node in performing actions. It can be evaluated by maintaining a record of the transactions with other
nodes directly as well as indirectly.

condensate and has produced an average of approximately 1.5 billion cubic feet per day to supply
clean energy to Bangladesh since 2016. Chevron Bangladesh operates three fields: Bibiyana,
Jalalabad, and Moulavi Bazar and produces over 60% of the national gas production and over 80% of
condensate production in the country. As a proud partner of Bangladesh, Chevron has invested over
3.6 billion US dollars of Foreign Direct Investment including over $500 million US dollars in
contracts with local suppliers and contractors in the last 12 years. More than 95% of the employees of
Chevronare Bangladeshi nationals. With our talented employees we are delivering world class
performance in safety, reliability and production efficiency. Globally, Chevron is planning $10 billion
in lower carbon capital investment between 2021 and 2028 with the goal of reducing the carbon
intensity of our business and building new lower carbon energy businesses. In Bangladesh, we are
pursuing projects to harness the country’s natural resources and provide solutions to meet
Bangladesh’s future energy needs. Chevron Bangladesh works with communities across its
operations, building long-term partnerships that foster economic development and lasting benefits to
them. Social investments in communities are one of the core values of Chevron’s global business
practice. In Bangladesh, Chevron has been managing social investment programs since 2006. The key
area of social investments are health, education, economic development, and emergency relief.
