MESSAGE FROM CONFERENCE CHAIR
I am highly pleased to welcome all honorable participants to ICERIE 2023. It is my honor
and privilege to thank all the delegates, keynote speakers, invited speakers, presenters and
participants from both home and abroad. ICERIE 2023 finally brings together 190 research
articles for presentation and discussion. The authors of these articles are found connected to
51 universities and research institutions of Bangladesh and 13 international universities of
different countries including USA, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, China, Singapore,
India, Nigeria. I hope that the vibrant presence of academics, research students, scientists and
practitioners at this beautiful campus will make the conference venues meaningful and
sparkling. This gathering will encourage our young graduates and scientists to be engaged
themselves more in research and higher education, which is what very necessary for national
development. Many of the articles address some crucial global aspects like energy crisis,
challenges of Industry 4.0 implementation, global warming and sustainable development. We
attempt this year to bring industrial expertise and the researchers in a common platform to
understand the practical situation regarding industry-academia linkage exists in Bangladesh.
In general, universities are less participative in commercial activities as they are likely to be
dedicated with creating knowledge and disseminating it through the graduates. However, the
time has changed remarkably. Universities and industries cannot work in isolation. They need
to come together to establish meaningful tie for addressing industrial needs in research
activities at the same time for promoting created knowledge at the universities through
industrial setups. As a whole, we need to reform our thought processes and policies to tie up
the commercial activities and research endeavors. Successful technology transfer through the
linkage may become an undermining concern in terms of scientific norms of autonomy and
communism. However, the policy, planning and management of science and technology
demand comprehensive academia industry interactions to promote the relevance of university
contribution to socio-economic development of a country. I hope the speakers, scholars,
entrepreneurs and policy makers will discuss, exchange their views and will find out the way
to strengthen industry-academia linkage to boost up our higher education and research. This
conference would place a new initiative.
I am obliged to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to honorable Vice Chancellor of
SUST for his constant support and guidance, to my fellow colleagues, sponsors and others
involved in organizing such a big event in a meaningful way in the arena of economic crisis. I
am thankful to honorable Ministers, Industrial Experts and Entrepreneurs for their precious

Academician Semenov Medal of Russian Academy of Engineering Science, MIAC International
Award for his contributions in the field of Membrane Science and Technologies, etc. He is author of
more than 800 scientific papers, 22 patents and 24 books on Membrane Science and Technology

Abstract
Membrane engineering is one of the fields most involved in the technological innovations needed to
address the problems that characterize our world today and in the future (i.e. water scarcity, scarcity
of raw materials and energy consumption). They offer the possibility to support sustainable industrial
growth despite the growing demand for materials, energy and products. Membrane-integrated
operations are already dominant technologies in molecular separations and have established
applications in many industrial processes such as water desalination, wastewater treatment, agri-food,
chemical and petrochemical industries, etc. There have been significant advances in industrial
applications as well in recent years. Currently they are also becoming interesting as membrane
contactors. Virtually all unit operations typical of process engineering could be redesigned as
_membrane_ unit operations (membrane distillation and membrane crystallizer). However, a good
understanding of material properties and transport mechanisms as well as the realization of innovative
functional materials with improved properties are the key issues for the further development of this
important technology, which requires further intensive research both at academic level and industrial
level. Its redesign in mining, the introduction of membrane systems in the extraction of minerals from
sea and brackish waters, its contribution to space technology and the redesign of agribusiness for the
growth of membrane technology are typical examples. Here, we identify the most interesting aspects
of membrane engineering in some strategic industrial sectors and, in particular, in water treatment and
agriculture. The integration of traditional membrane units with innovative systems is also underlined
in order to exploit the potential advantages deriving from their synergistic applications. Integrated
membrane systems are also providing opportunities for significant innovation in agriculture.

Abstract

With the rapid growth of mobile computing and social networking technology, social network has
extended its popularity from the Internet to mobile domain. Ad hoc networks are autonomous systems
which comprise a collection of mobile nodes thatusewirelesstransmission for communication. They
are self-organized, self-configuredand self-controlled infrastructure-less networks. In the last few
years, mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) and wireless sensor networks(WSN) have seen increased
adaption in a variety of disciplines because they can be deployed with simple infrastructures and
virtually no central administration. This type of network can be set up or deployed anywhere and
anytime because it poses very simple infrastructure setup and no or minimal central administration.
In particular, the development of MANET and WSN provides tremendous opportunities in areas
including disaster recovery , defense , health care, researchers , students, and industrial
environments. A self-organizing network is a network that can automatically extend, change,
configure and optimize its topology, coverage, capacity, cell size, and channel allocation, based on
changes in location, traffic pattern, interference, and the situation or environment. Each node in these
networks acts as transreceiver andcommunicates via hops when some nodes are out of coverage area.
Due to high mobility the topology of the networks changes dynamically, thus making routing very
challenging. Only sender intends that receiver should “understand” message contents. But because of
universal electronic connectivity electronic eavesdropping, viruses, hackers and electronic fraud can
threaten thereby putting special importance on security. However, because of proper attention on the
area of network security there is significant development of practical available applications to enforce
network security. In MANETs and WSNs, nodes may exhibit various types of misbehavior. Node’s
misbehavior may be categorized into two broad types: Malicious behavior intention is to attack and
damage the network, Selfish behavior intention is to save power, memory and CPU cycle. A
malicious node delays packet forwarding to ensure that time-to-live (TTL) of the packets are expired
so that the packets do not reach the destination. In order to prevent various attacks, which WSNs and
MANET suffers, the possible solutions can be adapted. Trust tells the degree of reliability of other
node in performing actions. It can be evaluated by maintaining a record of the transactions with other
nodes directly as well as indirectly.

Chevron carries out most of these projects in partnership with leading nongovernmental organizations.
At Chevron Bangladesh, we refer to our common set of values as The Chevron Way. This is the
foundation for what we believe and how we behave. Throughout our history, Chevron Bangladesh has
been a place where trust, respect and humility define our culture and where performance, partnership
and accountability guide the way. The Chevron Way underpins our commitment to deliver affordable,
reliable, and ever-cleaner energy. Our strategy is clear – we are leveraging our strengths to deliver
lower carbon energy to a growing world. This includes contributing to the UN Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), which we view as a system of targets and objectives that build on each
other to achieve a more sustainable future. We believe the next decade will be full of partnership,
action and growth, and we are well-positioned to be part of the solution. Chevron Bangladesh touches
all 17 SDGs through our day-to-day operations, partnership initiatives and social investment
opportunities. We work with key partners, communities, and industry groups to maximize positive
outcomes and continually deepen our understanding of sustainable development. Achieving a more
sustainable energy future means drawing on our culture of human ingenuity to solve problems and
deliver solutions. It also means being an outstanding partner with businesses around the world and
with the communities we call home. By operating responsibly and performing with excellence, we
strive to make Chevron the partner of choice. In Bangladesh, our partnerships and investments in
health, education and economic development advance progress and strengthen communities. We spent
more than USD$15 million on community programs over last 12 years, benefitting more than 120,000
people.
