Apology Letter
A reporter for English daily The News has issued an apology for authoring a story that was
published in the newspaper on 18th December 2022 that suggested that the Chief Justice of
Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar, while hearing a suo motu case of illegal construction in Banigala,
had "remarked that the current government lacked capability and planning."
The reporter misunderstood the remarks at the conference directed at the Capital Development
Authority.
We want to clarify that the reporter committed a serious error that cannot be overlooked. The
News has no tolerance policy for any of our staff members acting in such a careless manner. The
reporter suspended for publishing a piece with factual errors has been subject to harsh
disciplinary action by management. We know that the court would never criticize the federal
government in such a way.
We reassure Mr. Mian Saqib Nisar and our readers that the situation will be thoroughly
investigated and brought to a successful conclusion to prevent the future publication of similarly
careless stories that might harm the public's reputation.
We again apologize to Mr. Mian Saqib Nisar for the mental agony caused to him because of the
irresponsible actions of one reporter.
