Chemistry for engineers
Direction: Answer the following concisely.
While safety glasses allow air to pass through and around the eyes,
safety goggles seal snugly on the face and provide protection from dust
and splashes. Goggles are held on by adjustable straps that may
incorporate elastic material, whereas glasses are held on by their arms
and a nasal bridge or nose pads. Goggles come in two styles: full coverage
and eye-cup designs, with some having vents to let heat and moisture
out. Small gaps surrounding the lenses of safety glasses are common,
making your eyes vulnerable to liquids and dust. Only goggles that
completely seal your face can protect you from these dangers. Against
irregular flying debris, safety eyewear is a good choice.
• Respirators - are used to purify the air you are breathing. The
most common respirator is a half face, dual cartridge respirator.
• Eyewear - Safety goggles or glasses protect your eyes from any
falling or flying debris.
• Disposable Coveralls - are used to keep asbestos-containing debris
off of your body.
• Rubber Boots - are used to protect your feet from any sharp
objects encountered during your project.
• Disposable Gloves - Gloves protect the hands from sharp objects
and reduce the amount of asbestos contamination on your hands.
