Set the operation switch knob to "FAN", and the pilot lamp will light up, and the fan begins to circulate air in the room. ‘On the front of the air conditioner, the discharge pressure gauge which ‘shows condensing pressure of the refrigerant and the suction pressure gauge which shows evaporating pressure are arranged, ‘These pressure gauges are important devices to know the operation conditions of the air conditioner correctly. Cooling is effective if the coo! air is directed slightly upwards, ‘© When the coo! ai is desired to be directed to the right or left. ‘As shown in the figure, use a pair of radio pliers or pliers to change the direction of the vertical blades. Once they are adjusted, do not change ¥ them frequently. | i Heating In case a heater and humidifier are used ‘The air conditioner can be used for heating if an electric heater, hot water heater or steam heater is added. Humidifying is also possible if a steam spray type humidifier is added. Heaters and humidifiers should be ordered separately since they are non-standard modification parts. Leave the switch in this position throughout the heating season. 3. Set the operation switch knob to "FAN". Room temperature can be controlled by ON/OFF operation of the heater valve or ON/OFF operation of the fan. Heating (2) - with an electric heater 7. Set the COOL/HEAT change-over switch to "HEAT". When an electric heater is used and the air conditioner is stopped during heating operation, operate the fan for at least three minutes to oo! off the electric heater, which protects the electric heater from trouble. Characteristics of heating operation> Operation start © Generally, in case of heating operation, it takes more time to approach to the set temperature than ‘Ifthe electric power is interrupted during operation, turn the operation switch knob to "OFF". After electricity is resuppliad, begin the operation as explained in “Operation”. ® Drain all water from the condenser after the cooling season is aver. ‘© Extract all water from the hot water piping or steam piping after the heating season is over. ‘© When heating operation is stopped even during the heating season, if there is any fear of freezing of water in the hot water heater or steam heater, be sure to drain all water from the hot water heater or steam heater. © Use a steam heater or spray within the following range if itis added. Steam heater : Under 0.5MPa (Recommendation 0.4MPa) Steam spray : Under 10kPa (Recommendation 3.5kPa) © Use a hot water heater with hot water lower than the following temperature if itis added, Hot water heater......Under 100°C (Recommendation 80°C) In caso of heating with the electric heater ‘When protection devices (thermal protector, thermal fuse) operate, check the causes and correct them. ‘And when replacing the thermal fuse, replace the grease for the fan including the piping simultaneously, Clean the ai ier once every two weeks. 42 7. (US2GE(TG) - SGE(TG) have a piace of filter.) The air filter serves to remove dust and dirt from the air and distribute always clean cool air. If the air filter is left unclean for a long time, it will be clogged to obstruct the air flow passing through it, reducing the air flow rate and impairing the cooling effect. Bo sure to clean the air filter once every two weeks. 1. How to remove the air filter [US2GE(TG)~10GE(TG)} (1) Loosen the knurling sorews on the air suction grille at the front of the air conditioner, and pull the grille toward you, In case of US2GE(TG) Knurling serews 3GE(TG), pull it toward you by the handle. | [US1SGE - 20GE] (1) Loosen the knurling screws on the front suction grilles and then remove the grilles. (2) The air fiter can be seen when the grille is opened (2) The air fiter are attached in front of the evaporator. Be sure the air suction giille is fastened to the air conditioner with a chain. ie Clean the air filter once every two weeks. (3) Take out each air filter by gripping its frame. 2. Cleaning the air filter (1) Remove dust from the cold or warm water. (2) Dry the air filter and return it to its original position. If necessary, clean the cooling tubes. Maintenance cycles of the condenser differ more or less depending on the quality of seawater and the operating time. Ifa lining pipe is used for the water piping of the cooling water in the ship, the anticorrosive zinc plates are easier to be damaged. Inspect them once every one month after providing services, and at the same time clean the inside of the sacrificial pipes (field supplied parts). Replace them at least once every three months. (1) Drain the piping system by letting water out from the lowest position ofthe system. In addition, remove the Upper and lower plugs of the condenser covers and let water flow out. As shown in the figure below, clean the cooling tubes by brushing each tube from right and let aternately with a brush Clean the 4, After cleaning the cooling tubes, perform the following steps. (1) install the right and left covers. Tighten up the bolts evenly. (2) Attach the upper and lower plugs to the right and left covers. (3) Install the side service plates (right and left). ‘The anticorrosive zinc plates installed on the condenser cover are required to prevent the cooling tubes and tube plates from rusting Inspect them at least before delivering the shi and once every three months after providing service and replace them once every six months. Ifa lining pipe is used for the water piping of the cooling water in the ship, replace the anticorrosive zinc plates at least once every three months. Use the standard accessories for replacement of the parts. Furthermore be sure to cover the bolt heads with putty so that they are not exposed to water. D © When opening the condenser cover to replace the anticorrosive zinc plates and clean the condenser cooling tubes, be sure to clean up the inner surface of the cover and apply tar epoxy coating over the surface. If the air filter is left uncleaned, itis clogged, air flow is reduced and cooling capacity impaired. Do not intermix grease of other brands. Clean the 46 fl Adjusting fan belt tension It the fan belt is loose, it slips and air flow is reduced. Furthermore, loosening of the fan belt may cause vibration and noise. The fan belts are apt to stretch when they are new, so adjust them correctly. Fan pulley Note that the fan shaft should run parallel to the fan motor shaft when adjusting the belts. ‘When the front panel of the casing is removed, the fan belts can be seen. V belt tension is correct ifthe V belt slack is about 10 mm when pressed Motor pulley lightly with a finger as shown in the figure. Adjust fan belts, when they slacken more. (Adjusting method) Loosen the adjusting nut, and move the motor. The belt is adjusted. Be Sure to align the belt line. Basic work for repair Z\WARNING © Do not disassemble, modify or repair the unit for yourself. Otherwise, water leakage, electric shock or fire may be caused. ‘Ask installation contractor to disassemble, modify or repair the unt. Draining and recovering refrigerant Use refrigerant recovery unit when discharging and recovering the refrigerant. cata (1) Recovery method depends on recovery equipment used (manufacturer). Follow the manufacturer's instructions. (2) For vessels sailing along Japanese sea routes, observe a relevant Japanese law. Refer to the Japanese law “Law for ensuring the implementation of recovery and destruction of fluorocarbons related to specified products (Fluorocarbons Recovery and Destruction Law)’. Reference literature “Refrigerant Recovery Technology” published by The Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association, (3) For ships of foreign registration, observe their local laws. Ifthe air conditioner runs short of refrigerant or air is mixed in the refrigerant, do the vacuum drying or refrigerant charging with the following points in mind. © Be sure to use the retrigerant recovery unit when recovering the remaining refrigerant. (Follow the above caution 3.) Charge the specified amount of fresh refrigerant. © Before starting the vacuum drying, check for anything faulty. If any, repair such areas completely. The condenser outlet stop valve is half open. © range to condenser outet_ To expansion valve © Charging joint The figure at right shows the valve fully closed. (2) Connect a pipe to the joint for reftigerant charge, open the stop valve Ve, and operate the vacuum pump to vacuum the inside. Ht ambient temperature is over 20°C during vacuum operation, operate the vacuum pump for another hour after exhausting no alr. In case ambient temperature is under 20°C, extend the vacuum operation by 30 minutes for every drop of 5°C. (8) Confirm that suction pressure gauge reading is, —0.1MPa, and close the stop valve Ve. (4) Open the stop valve Vi (attached to the cylinder), raise the refrigerant pressure upto 0.2MPa, and check the circuit for gas leakage. Before charging the refrigerant, weigh the refrigerant cylinder. (6) If nothing wrong is found, charge the predesigned volume of the refrigerant (indicated on the nameplate) (6) Remove the pipe from the air conditioner and attach the flare nut and partition cover to the pipe joint for refrigerant charge, and tighten them up. # US2GE(TG)~10GE(TG) Chage recovery joint (gauge joint wth check valve) When disconnecting the piping for refrigerant charge from charging valve which has the function of check valve, keep in mind that the refrigerant in the pipe charged may gush out ‘* USISGE + 20GE Disconnect the pipe after the condenser outlet stop valve is fuly opend Koop in mind that the refrigerant in the pipe charged may gush out ‘© During the refrigerant charge, if internal pressure of the refrigerant cylinder becomes ‘equal with that of the machine before charging the predesigned volume, it is impossible to charge it any more. in that case, operate the alr conditioner, and be sure to supply condenser water to the condenser and close the condenser outlet stop valve. © Be careful not to get water into the refrigeration circuit, or it may cause trouble.
