1. Purpose
The purpose of this method statement is to define the general sequence of events and
responsibilities for carrying out Plastering work for different buildings and the measures
adopted for safe and systematic completion of the same.

3. Scope of work
The scope of work includes plastering work of different buildings for Oman
Formaldehyde Chemical Company project at SIPC, Sohar.
Project Manager: Project Manager will be responsible for overall management of all
construction activities at site.
Civil In-charge: Civil In-charge will be responsible for Plastering work at site including
coordination with other services and client.
QA/QC Engineer: QA/ QC Engineer will be responsible for site QA/ QC activities,
material control and traceability, non-conformance management and compilation of
records.
Civil Engineer: Civil Engineer will be responsible for the Plastering work and
implementation of all plans.
5. Quality control
Sieve analysis of sand will be carried out before the starting of plastering work.
All the parameters of plastering work will be checked before and after the work and the
quality will be ensured through a checklist.
6. Safety precautions
All the manpower involved in the job shall wear appropriate personnel protection
equipment like helmet, safety shoe, goggles, gloves, and nose masks.
Before employing personnel at site, safety induction will be given and associated hazards
and precautionary measures involved in the job also briefed.

All the electrical installations shall be enclosed properly and ELCB shall be installed to
prevent danger of electric shock. Only authorized electrical person is allowed to attend
any repair/maintenance.
7. Procedure
SCOPE
This procedure describes the methodology to be adopted for painting at internal and external surfaces at Sohar
industrial area substation project.
3.COATING SYSTEM
Switchgear Room:
Walls: Smooth renders with 2 coat of epoxy paint to 2.0m above FL and 2 coat of emulsion above.
Ceiling: Two coat of emulsion
Control Room:
Walls: Smooth renders with 2 coat of oil-based paint to 2.2 m above FFL and two coat of emulsion paint above.
Ceiling: Metal paneled suspended ceiling.
Relay Room:
Walls: Smooth renders with 2 coat of oil-based paint to 2.2 m above FFL and two coat of emulsion paint above.
Ceiling: Metal paneled suspended ceiling.
Battery Room:
Walls: Two coat of alkali resistant paint above 2.2m alkali resistant tiles.
Ceiling: Two coat of alkali resistant paint.
LVAC, D.C. and Battery Charger Room:
Walls: Smooth renders with 2 coat of oil-based paint to 2.2 m above FFL and two coat of emulsion paint above.
Ceiling: Metal paneled suspended ceiling.
Pantry:
Walls: Two coat of emulsion above 2.2m glazed ceramics wall tiles.
Ceiling: Metal paneled suspended ceiling.
Bathroom:
Walls: Two coat of emulsion above 2.2m glazed ceramics wall tiles.
Ceiling: Metal paneled suspended ceiling.
Telecommunication Room:
Walls: Smooth renders with 2 coat of oil-based paint to 2.2 m above FFL and two coat of emulsion paint above.
Ceiling: Metal paneled suspended ceiling.
Interface Room:
Walls: Smooth renders with 2 coat of oil-based paint to 2.2 m above FFL and two coat of emulsion paint above.
Ceiling: Metal paneled suspended ceiling.
Entrance Hall, Corridors, Store, Office:
Walls: Smooth renders with 2 coat of oil-based paint to 2.2 m above FFL and two coat of emulsion paint above.
Ceiling: Metal paneled suspended ceiling.
Pump House:
Walls: Smooth renders with 2 coat of oil-based paint to 2.2 m above FFL and two coat of emulsion paint above.
Ceiling: Two coat of emulsion.
Basement/Tunnels:
Walls: Smooth render with 2 coat of emulsion.
Ceiling: Two coat of emulsion.
4. PROCEDURE
4.1 Surface preparation
All surfaces shall be clean & free of dirt, grease, form oil, loose deposits & efflorescence. Ensure the completion of
curing period of both concrete & masonry surfaces. Oil, cuing compound, laitance shall be removed by light grit
blast if required.
In the case of new hard surfaces, the surface has to be washed thoroughly if required and allowed to dry out
completely before the application of paint. Whatever be the type of paint used on these surfaces a primer or sealing
coat shall be applied first. For plastered surfaces, all defective plaster has to be removed and holes in internal
plaster has to be filled properly and the edge be closely knit and the filling rubbed down level with the surrounding
surface before plastering.
In the case of new metal surfaces, the surface has to be primed with metal primer before the application of
undercoat and finishing coat. Any further surface preparation requirements in case, recommended by manufacturer
shall be adhered to.
4.2 Application
The surface has to be cleaned or brushed and dried immediately before applying the first coat.
Apply the first coat of the specified paint to the required thickness. After allowing it to cure for
the specified period as per the manufacturer’s specifications, apply the final coat of specified

paint. Second coat shall be applied only after hardening of the preceding coat and resist
marking by subsequent brushing. The paint application shall be such to get uniform coating
thickness, free of pores. The mixed paint shall be consumed within the pot life period of the
product as specified by the manufacturer.
