1.0 Scope
This method statement covers the method of fabrication and installation of stainless-steel
handrails.
Project Engineer: Shall receive all the approved Shop drawings, approved Method Statements
and all other necessary details those are required for the execution of job from Main Contractor
through Document Controller. Shall coordinate with the Main-contractor Site Engineer and
shall be responsible for individual activity. Ensure that latest GFC drawings, approved shop
drawings and Co-ordinated Services drawing are being used at site.
Document Controller (Nijam Uddin): Shall provide all necessary documents related to main
contractor requirements such as HSE policy, Company certificates, workmen’s resident cards
and other required legal documents.
Supervisor (Nizam Uddin): Organizing all necessary material, tools, equipment to the work site
and assigning workmen crew prior to commencement of work. Ensures the workmen follow the
main-contractor Safety and Quality control measures. Ensures that all recommended PPE and
safety required equipment are used by the workmen.

3.0 Resources
3.1 Materials

3.2 Manpower
The manpower to be used for fabrication and installation of stainless-steel handrails includes:
● Site Engineer
● Supervisors
● Fitters
● Welders
● Helper
3.3 Consumables, Plant and Equipment
The equipment and instrument to be used for fabrication and installation of stainless-steel
handrails includes, but not limited to:
● Grinding Machine (110V),
● Cutoff Machine (110V),
● Measuring tape.
● Cutter, / grinding (110V)
● Hammer drill machine (110V)
● Argon MIG welding machine (220V),
● Gloves, ear plugs, safety glasses & other PPE
● Fire blanket
● SS316 electrodes
● Buffing Wheel

4.0 Procedure
4.1 Receiving materials:
While receiving the materials, the following is to be ensured:
● Material received - Make, Product name are as per the Purchase Order and as per the
approved MAS (Material Approval Submittal).
● The quantities are correct as per the purchase order and delivery note.
● Once the material is received at the site, MIR (Material Inspection Request) shall be
raised for material inspection and approval obtained for use at site.
● Preparation
▪ Setup of production list such number of pipes, post, base plates, elbows, etc.
▪ Procurement of materials mentioned above.

▪ Coordinate and furnish, setting, drawings, templates, and directions for
installation of SS Handrail.
● Fabrication
▪ SS handrails will be fabricated with 1m height from ground level with 50mm Dia
SS316 pipe as the railings and post.
▪ In case for longer handrails, it will be divided to multiple parts.
▪ The fabricated handrails and tagged welded before it will be mock fitted on the
staircase to ensure proper fitting and match the stairs. Welding method used is
argon MIG welding.
▪ Complete/full welding will be done in the workshop on the joints of the railings,
posts and baseplates once all necessary adjustment is completed.
● Installation
▪ 14mm hole will be drilled on the concrete floor according to the dimensions.
▪ The base plate will be bolted to the concrete floor using M12 SS316 anchor bolts.
▪ The multiple parts of handrails will be joined together via complete/full welding
on site. Welding method used is argon MIG welding.
● Finishing
▪ Buffing and polishing of handrails to ensure smooth and polish finish.
▪ General cleaning.
