3 Attack Motivation
Cyber Criminals is an intentional act requiring corporation and thought, and hence,
there must be adequate motivation for a person to engage in this type of crime considering the
possible consequences. There are 5 most common attack motivation for hackers.

First, the most common attack motivation is financial gain. A hacker's main driving
force is money, and there are numerous ways to acquire it. They might directly access a bank
or investment account, steal the password to your financial websites, and then transfer your
assets to one of their own accounts. The second attack motivation is recognition and
achievement. Some hackers are inspired by the sense of achievement that comes with
cracking open a major system. This links into the idea that cybercriminals are naturally
competitive, and they enjoy the challenges their actions present. In addition, political
motivation is also one of the attack motivations. Some cybercriminal groups target global
corporations using their hacking skills. They are typically driven by some sort of cause, such
raising awareness of human rights issues or warning a large corporation about system
vulnerabilities. Then, the forth most common attack motivation is state actor. State-sponsored
actors receive funding and support from a country. They specifically engage in cybercrime to
serve the interests of their country. The last attack motivation is corporate espionage. This
kind of cyberattack is utilised to get the advantage on a rival company. Corporate espionage,
which is carried out for business or financial gain, includes obtaining property and stealing
trade secrets, as well as engaging in bribery, blackmail, or monitoring.

In conclusion, understanding the attacker's motivation is crucial for law enforcement

activities since it helps to create a profile of the attacker.
