ABOUT SPANDAN 2022
The 18th edition of Spandan is a two-day event that was hosted from December 14 th - 15th,
2022 in a completely offline mode.

This imaginatively designed media festival sets itself apart from other cultural festivals with
themes that are unique to them and shed light on a variety of important issues. The year
2022's theme was "Back to the Roots."

Spandan has always prioritised using simple yet evolving media to communicate concepts. In
order to spread awareness and impart knowledge, Spandan 2022 aimed to make a lasting
impression on viewers by integrating cutting-edge innovation with age-old foundations.

Theme:
Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies is celebrating its annual media festival of the
‘Back to Roots’ was the theme for Spandan 2022. The broad theme is so vast that it can literally mean
anything to anyone. For some, going back to our roots might mean reliving our literature; for others it
might mean going back to the values of the past that shape a better future for all of us.
But how is staying connected to the roots relevant to the media? As a nation, we are rapidly moving
towards a more sophisticated and developed community. But, will our past values and heritage help us
in strengthening our presence, or leaving those values behind and trying to “appear” civilised in front
of the rest of the world help us better?
Consider a tree, the stronger its roots are, the more power the tree holds. While the new branches
might make the tree look happy and healthy, it’s strength will still lie in its deep-rooted system inside
the ground.
Same goes with our beliefs and our value systems. The more we stay attached to them, the more we
get strengthened to make a revered presence in front of the world. Be it our culture, our beliefs, our
studies- our roots enhance our astitva in this ever-evolving world. This year, Spandan picked up the
theme “Back to Roots” to highlight the forgotten parts of our culture to commemorate this astitva and
strengthen the existence of our culture, which in turn strengthens us as a community in the world.

SANSKRITI: KRITI & PRASTUTI

The richness comes out through the cracks of holy land offering different grubs, divergent
ordinance, and contrast regalia but what comes out as the primal indistinguishable choice is
the 6 yards of pure grace. Kriti took us on a tour of the country with an astounding fashion
show depicting a timeless ethnic piece, 16 different types of sarees across the length and
breadth of the country. Thus, gratifying the vastness of our soil, the soil of diversity, yet
harmony under a single sky. Through decades, we have seen trends come in and go,
influenced by films in different eras, iconic in their own way. Prastuti was a festival where
we relived all the eras of cinema, intertwined with music and dance, fashion, recreation,
elegance, and drama. Prastuti paid homage to cinema that strikes a chord with us all.
