DIRECTION: Write a brief introduction on how you understand maintaining guestroom cleanliness and
orderliness. What are the contribution of selling rooms in hotel/passenger ships?

You need to keep clean the guestroom to make the guest comfortable and we need to place orderly all
the items on the guestroom to avoid the mess of the room. Guestrooms are serviced and maintained
through regular cleaning guestroom, orderly arrangement of fixtures and room amenities, installation
and replenishment of guestroom supplies and amenities and continuous checking of the condition of
guestrooms and facilities and taking corrective action.

2. Cleaning the assigned guestrooms needs to follow the standard procedure of performing the

a. Discuss how you will correctly access and enter in a guest room
- First, I will knock on the door, use knuckles not keys or any other item as it could mark
the door and call out “HOUSEKEEPING!”, second, count to five and if there is no answer,
I will knock again and use the key to enter and I’ll take one step into the room and
announce out “Goodmorning/Goodafternoon, Housekeeping to service your room.
3. Identify and explain your answer on the following:
a. Services perfomed by a room attendant in a five star hotel
- Greeting guests and responding to queries.
- Changing bed linen and making beds
- Replacing used towels and other bathroom amenities, such as shampoo and soap.
- Sweeping and mopping floors.
- Vacuuming carpets.
- Dusting and polishing furniture
- Emptying trash containers and ashtrays
b. How it differs from tasks provided by a room attendant in a budget hotel
c. How a room attendant fits into a housekeeping department including identification of their
managers and colleagues.
