BSIT - 2L ART APPRECIATION

ACTIVITY

Watch and observe the musical play "Ang Huling El Bimbo" and then describe the stage, their
costumes, the way they perform and your experiences while watching the play. Create at least 150
words essay.

● The plot of Ang Huling El Bimbo revolves around four college students whose
friendship is put to the test following a personal tragedy. I was overjoyed when I learned
that Ang Huling El Bimbo, the hit jukebox musical featuring Eraserheads songs, was
returning for a second run. As of this writing, the musical is in its fourth weekend, so
imagine how long I've been talking about it (vaguely) to my friends. A few of them have
also inquired as to how I discovered it. "...I enjoyed it," I always say. I understand the
apparent lack of enthusiasm in that response, but let me explain: it was great, but
there's so much to unpack about the show, and the story isn't all smiles and laughter.
Aside from the amazing musical journey, Ang Huling El Bimbo takes us on a journey
through the lives of four main players in life's uneven playing field. And then there's
Joy, a bubbly, upbeat young lady whose life is turned upside down as if the hand she
was dealt wasn't bad enough. It depicts the ups and downs of growing up, from the
bright, hopeful, and happy moments of young friendship and love to dealing with
heartbreak, to more personal and somber issues such as acceptance, the depth of true
friendship, and even guilt.
