ITF World Tennis Tour - Guide to Appointing a Sport Physiotherapist

When selecting a Sports Physiotherapist, the candidate should:

• be a fully qualified Physiotherapist with a minimum of 2 years working in the sports environment, preferably in tennis.
• hold a Physiotherapy qualification or its equivalency.
• have post graduate training in sports physiotherapy such as a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy or be working towards this
• be English speaking.
• certified in the host country of the tournament and have all the necessary qualifications and insurance to treat athletes.
• hold First Aid/ CPR qualifications.

It is recommended the Sport Physiotherapist also hold the following qualifications:

 Sports Massage
 Taping
 Manual Treatment

• Please note:

 A sports massage / sports therapist qualification alone is not sufficient for this position.
