Why were plebeians so important to Rome?

In Ancient times, the Roman republic was divided into 2 classes. The classes were Patricians and
Plebeians classes. The patricians would be considered the top class, which would include affluent
landowners. Plebeians, the lower class of Rome, would be considered average citizens. They
consisted of about 90% of the population and compared to the Patricians they have partially no
rights.

In the Rome republic, they did most of the work like being farmers, craftsmen, and builders.
Because they were hard workers, the Plebeians were significant to Roman civilization. They
started to live in Rome as working citizens, joining the city's population of farmers, construction
workers, and artisans. They were referred to as the common people and made up the majority of
the Roman populace. They have often dedicated workers who worked diligently to maintain
their families, which meant they paid taxes to the government. The Plebeians struggled daily to
survive in Roman society, but select individuals were allowed some influence in social and
political affairs. Despite their marginalization and lack of access to luxury or official positions,
they thought saw Rome as their home. (Morey, 1901)

I think the Plebeians were very important when they were used as soldiers in the conquest of
Rome. The Plebeians did not have a voice in the government, but serving in the military was
mandatory, and because they composed a huge population, the plebeians were motivated to
fight, because of the recognition and wealth it can bring to them if they achieved great victories.

Plebeians after suffering for years realized their value, and capitalize on their population by
refusing to fight Rome wars, and this caused a century-old revolt that is called the Conflict of the
orders.
