Let the students notice the similarities and differences between
the beliefs and traditions of Thailand and the Philippines by
reading and analyzing the following statements about the story
titled” My Thai Cat”

A. In the Thai culture, to refuse the will or command of the


father is a grave sin. In like manner, Filipinos believe that

hero that they chose with the heroes mentioned in the text.

and then let them answer the following questions.

1. Who brought changes to our old customs, traditions, and


practices?
2. For you, which changes to our old customs, traditions, and
practices brought by these people are better and worse?
3. For you, what makes an educated Filipino?

F. Evaluation
Ask the students to write their own opinion about educated Filipino
in the past and present based on what they have read in the
selection. Instruct them to use transitional signals and opinion-
marking signals in writing their opinion.
