COMPRESSOR FRONT STATOR HARDWARE - INSPECTION

*** Description of change : Technical change : Added a visual inspection
procedure of the compressor stage 1 thru stage 5 and stage 6 thru stage 8
borescope plugs for nicks, dents, and wear on the hexagonal cap.

TASK 72-32-20-200-001

1. General.

A. This procedure gives instructions to do an inspection of the

compressor front stator hardware. Refer to Figure 801.

2. Tools, Equipment, and Materials.

NOTE: You can use equivalent alternatives for tools, equipment, and
consumable materials.

A. Tools and Equipment.

(1) Special Tools. None.
(2) Standard Tools and Equipment. None.
(3) Locally Manufactured Tools. None.

B. Consumable Materials. None.

C. Referenced Procedures. None.

D. Expendable Parts. None.

3. Visual Inspection.

Visually inspect as follows:

Subtask 72-32-20-220-053

A. Stage 1-5 Borescope Plugs (05-300; 72-32-00, 05-310; 72-32-00) for:

(1) Cracks, nicks, or dents in the first thread

Maximum Serviceable Limit: Not serviceable

Maximum Repairable Limit: The first thread can be removed if

the remaining threads are not damaged

Repair Method: Remove the first thread

(2) Safetywire hole damage

Maximum Serviceable Limit: One hole remaining

Maximum Repairable Limit: Not repairable

(1) Cracks, nicks, or dents in the first thread

Maximum Serviceable Limit: Not serviceable

Maximum Repairable Limit: The first thread can be removed if

the remaining threads are not damaged

Repair Method: Remove the first thread

Maximum Serviceable Limit: One hole remains

Maximum Repairable Limit: Any amount

Repair Method: Replace the cap. Refer to TASK 72-32-20-300-001

(1) Lock quality

Maximum Serviceable Limit: Complete engagement of the nut to

the bolt by hand must not be possible. Minimum of 5 lb in.
(0,57 N.m) run-on torque

Maximum Repairable Limit: Not repairable
