Bank Indonesia Museum is a museum in Jakarta , Indonesia located on Jl.
North Big Door No. 3, West Jakarta (in front of Beos Kota station),
occupying the area of the former Bank Indonesia Kota building which is a
cultural heritage left by De Javasche Bank which is neo-classical, combined
with local influences, and was first built in 1828 .

In 1625, in this place was built a simple church for Protestants. In 1628, the
church was demolished as it was used to house a large cannon when tens of
thousands of Sultan Agung’s soldiers attacked Batavia for the first time.

This museum presents information on the role of Bank Indonesia in the

nation’s history, which began before the arrival of westerners in the
archipelago until the formation of Bank Indonesia in 1953 and the policies
of Bank Indonesia., including the background and impact of Bank
Indonesia’s policies on the public up to 2005. The presentation is packaged
in such a way by utilizing modern technology and multi-media, such as
electronic displays, static panels, plasma televisions, and dioramas so as to
create visitor convenience in enjoying the Bank Indonesia Museum. .
Besides that, there are also facts and collections of historical objects in the
period before the formation of Bank Indonesia, such as during the
Nusantara kingdoms, including a collection of numismatic money which is
also displayed in an interesting way.

The inauguration of the Bank Indonesia Museum was carried out in two
stages, namely the inauguration of phase I and the soft opening on
December 15, 2006 by the then Governor of Bank Indonesia , Burhanuddin
Abdullah , and the inauguration of phase II (grand opening) by the
President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono , on 21
July 2009 .
