Budget Mobile offers government-subsidized cell phones through the FCC’s Lifeline phone service program.
They serve needy people in many states. The Budget Mobile phone program is available now in Arkansas,
Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine,
Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma,
Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Washington, Utah, Texas, West
Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. They are working on certification for other
states. Budget Mobile is offering free phones and up to 250 free minutes of airtime each month (varies by

Cellular. TracFone Wireless operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), holding agreements with
the United States' largest wireless network operators to provide service using their networks,

telephone subscribers, making it the seventh-largest telephone carrier in the country. Cox is headquartered at

Life Wireless
LIFE WIRELESS is a nationwide cell phone provider that offers both low-cost and Lifeline service to their
customers. They currently operate in the following states: Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland,
Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island Texas and Virginia. They may be a relatively
new carrier, but they have already distinguished themselves by offering a high-degree of customer service.
LIFE WIRELESS is a Lifeline supported wireless service provided by TELRITE CORPORATION. LIFE WIRELESS™
offers a Lifeline discount to low income families and individuals for wireless services. To obtain LIFE
WIRELESS™ service potential subscribers must meet certain eligibility requirements such as receiving
governmental assistance or a household income that is 135% or below the federal poverty level. The specifics
of what determines a potential subscriber's eligibility are specific to each state. LIFE WIRELESS™ service is
limited to one per household, and cannot be combined with any other Lifeline offering.
Unlike some of the major carriers, Life Wireless offers different plans from state to state. The plan options for
both of their Lifeline and regular service are detailed below.
In Arkansas, Louisiana, Maryland and West Virginia, there is only one plan:
Customers receive 68 monthly rollover minutes. Text messages are charged at 1/3 a plan minute each.
Customers receive 100 monthly rollover minutes. Text messages are charged at 1/3 a plan minute each
In Georgia, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Rhode Island and Puerto Rico, customers have their choice of 3 plans:
68 monthly rollover minutes where text messages are charged at 1/3 a plan minute each
125 monthly rollover minutes where text messages are charged at ½ a plan minute each
250 monthly minutes with no rollover. Text messages are charged at 1 minute each.
There is also a $29.95 Unlimited Text and Plan, available only to Lifeline Customers
Customers who are not-eligible for Lifeline Service may still purchase the same plans described above (with the
exception of the Unlimited Plan). These customers must pay a one-time activation fee of $60, and must pay a
$13.50 monthly fee ($11.53 in Illinois). Lifeline customers never have to pay a fee for their phones or their
monthly minutes.
