PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
 Perform initial assessment to the patient prior to minor surgery.
 Post-operative care, and giving discharge instructions to the patients with minor surgery.
 Perform wound dressing.
 Perform suture removal and staple removal from the operation site.
 Performs a systematic initial and ongoing assessment of the patient’s physical and
psychosocial status, specific to the age of the patient.
 Establishes realistic and measurable goals that are culturally sensitive and identifies nursing
interventions to achieve the goals.
 Practices within the established standards, policies, and procedures.
 Provides patient health teaching through the parents including:
 Giving tips to the mother about breastfeeding and baby care.
 Medications and food interactions.
 Safe use of any medical equipment.
 Nursing of well-babies including:
 Assisting pediatrician to perform initial resuscitation right after birth.
 Giving immediate nursing care to well-baby immediate after birth.
 Giving bath and feeding.
 Rooming in to the mother in the ward where admitted.
 Providing routine eye, cord and skin care.
 Giving vaccination.
 Safeguarding from fall and possible abduction.
 Scheduling visit to the well- baby clinic.
 Nursing of preterm babies (less than 37 weeks of gestational age)
