CALA TITLE : Site for a water tap at Ruvheneko Secondary school

Background
Due to the Covid pandemic, the Ruvheneko Secondary School needs more water points for
students to wash their hands frequently. The school admin decides to put another water tap
for the school, a task was given to the mathematics department to establish a suitable site
for the tap. As learners of Ruvheneko Secondary School you are required to locate the most
appropriate site for the water tap.

The CALA
The cala has two parts namely Part A and Part B and learners are expected to answer all
Part A
You are required to measure the length and width of the school yard and record the results also
the distance of the classrooms from the nearest point of the fence
Part B
Using information obtained in Part A make a sketch of the school yard using a ratio of
1:500.
Using the information above construct the school yard and label the corners and marking
the points where the classroom blocks, school garden and toilets are located. Bisect the
sides of the school yard.
Mark a possible point to place the water tap and give a reason for your choice.

Construct the the rectangle form of the school of the school yard using a scale of 1:500 and
also bisecting the sides of the rectangle (20)
From your rectangle mark the most suitable site for the water tap and give reasons for
your site. (5)
