The

Emotionally Intelligent Leadership for Students: Inventory is an evidence-based assessment

of the capacities of emotionally intelligent leadership (EIL). EIL synthesizes two major bodies of
research and theory: emotional intelligence and leadership. This self – assessment gives you an
opportunity to learn more about yourself and better understand how you lead others. The best
insight will come when
1. You are honest with yourself
2. You respond to the questions based on who you are today, not on who you hope to
become; and
3. You respond to the statements quickly – try not to analyze them

Step 1. Use the rating numbers shown. Indicate the extent to which you intentionally do the
following

Step 3. Write a vision statement or story about a future positive state as it relates to the capacity
you are weak in. What will it look like when you have mastered this capacity? Who will you
become? What will it allow you to accomplish?
My lowest skills include healthy self-esteem, initiative and achievement, inspiring others, and
facilitating change. Working on these skills will help me gain self-confidence. To be confident in
myself and overcome my insecurities, I must first recognize my flaws and improve them. This
will not only benefit me, but it will also allow me to contribute to and assist others. A healthy
self-esteem will help me believe in myself and make right decisions and changes.
