TOPIC OUTLINE IN PURPOSIVE COMMUNICATION

(Corporate Presentations Using Multimedia)

A. PREZI/FOCUSKY

What is Prezi?

 Prezi is a web-based tool for creating presentations. It's similar to other

presentation software like Microsoft PowerPoint, but it offers some
unique features that make it a good alternative.

History

 Prezi was founded in Budapest, Hungary in 2009 by Adam Somlai-

Fischer, Peter Halacsy and Peter Arvai.
 Adam, who has a background in architecture came up with the initial
idea to use spatial pages – rather than slides to share information.
 The idea turned into a product and company called Prezi, which today
has offices in Budapest and San Francisco.

How does a prezi work?

 Most types of presentation software use a slide-based approach, where

you move back and forth between individual slides, kind of like pages in
a book. Prezi, however, uses a canvas-based approach. Instead of using
slides, Prezi has one very large canvas that your presentation moves
around on, zooming in and out to view various frames.

Advantages

 Free- Unlike PowerPoint, Prezi is free to obtain in any computer.

 Movement- When presenting anything on this software you can have
things move around
 Age- Any person of any ages is able to use Prezi since it isn't complicated

Disadvantages

 Your presentation can easily feel unstructured.

 If too much zooming and panning are used your audience can feel dizzy
and a bit nauseous.
 You don’t have rich editing tools for creating graphics or charts in Prezi,
you need to create these using some other tool and then import them
into your canvas as an image or video.

B. AUDIO/ VIDEO

1. AUDIO

 Audio is one of the several components in a multimedia presentation that

helps to convey the main topic and points. Background music and vocal
narration are two other elements that can help bring a presentation to
life and it may require the use of speech, music and sound effects. Music
can not only help an audience pay more attention to overall presentation
but give it a bit more “pop”.

 Audio can be used to enhance multimedia applications in a number of

ways, for example in delivering lectures over the web, music is used to
add interest and emotion to a presentation, and other non-speech audio
used as a part of a general interface.

BENEFITS OF ADDING AN AUDIO IN A PRESENTATION

By adding an audio file to the presentation definitely:

 Help to make the presentation more attractive and easier to understand.
 Relating the text with the music piece makes the audience connect with
the presentation.
 Almost everyone likes to hear music therefore, music in the presentation
will hold the attention of the audience.

2. VIDEO

 A video presentation is a popular form of multimedia presentation with a

duration of several seconds or minutes that shows the benefits of a
product, service, or any idea with the help of interesting graphic images,
concise text, and appropriate narration.

 Videos are a great way to get a message across. They are engaging, can
contain a lot of information, easy to make and easy to distribute. Adding
video to the presentations is one of the easiest ways to create a
multimedia video presentation.

WHY MAKE A VIDEO PRESENTATION?

Besides being more appealing than a regular cut-and-dry

presentation, video presentations are also:

 PERSUASIVE
 BETTER FOR INFORMATION RETENTION
