WHAT CAN I DO?

1. MINING - In open pit mining the attractive rock layer obviously is removed and and layers
above that can be restored, or the landscape can be left as it is with man created hills and
water filled pit holes.

In underground mining the ground above the mining area might sink; how much is
dependent of depth of the mining, the type of rock layer removed and also how the rock
is perforated.

2. QUARRYING - Quarrying of stone and sand causes property damage, depletion of ground
water, loss of fertile topsoil, forest degradation, loss of aquatic biodiversity, and
deterioration of public health. Quarrying essentially harms the environment.

3. KAINGIN SYSTEM OF FARMING - Kaingin means clearing by cutting down trees and
burning them. This is what causes soil erosion that makes ultimate environmental
collapse and deforming the formation of the rocks.

4. CONVERTING ELEVATED AREAS INTO SUBDIVISION AND ROADS - There's a good chance
they'll cause a landslide if they put too much weight on the raised places, damaging the
rock strata.

5. FOREST DENUDATION - The rock layers will thin down and get washed away. Denudation
is a term used in geology to describe the processes that erode away the Earth's surface
due to moving water, ice, wind, and waves, resulting in a loss in height and relief of
landforms and landscapes.

ANALYSIS:

1. QUARRYING.
2. Quarrying will take advantage of pre-existing joint patterns and fractures, but if
erosion is to be sustained, continual bedrock fracture beneath ice must occur once the
pre-glacial weathered and cracked rock has been removed. Processes involved in
bedrock erosion by glaciers are depicted in this diagram.
3. To address the problems caused by these bad human practices, I will use my rights and
freedom of speech, as well my social media, to make my voice heard by the
government, and I will inform them about the state of our environment. I will also
encourage other youth to protect the environment by not doing things that harm it.
