The Importance of Green Space in a City

In a developing country, most of its cities are also build the infrastucures where it causes the function
changes on the green spaces become the building or housing. Green space is an open area as the place for
vegetations whether it is the natural vegetations or vegetations that are planted by human. Furthermore, green
space also have some benefits to our environment and there are some ways to save the green spaces.

First of all, the green open dominated by plant has the ability to reduce the air pollution especially
reducing the carbon dioxide (CO2) emission. Every vegetation conduct the photosynthesis. This process need
the CO2 on its processes to produce food. Furthermore, it will be a proper way to use the plant to absorb the
emission to tackle air pollution problem. Secondly, the green space is able to absorb the flow water of the rain,
it is not only an appropriate option to prevent the flood when the heavy rain occurs but it also will increase
the amount of underground water. The underground water is important because used by some householders
as their raw water. Thirdly, the vegetation in green space can reduce the noisy that caused by human activity.
There are some plant species have a good ability to absorb the noisy.

Realizing the benefits of green spaces, it is necessary to keep and provide the green space in our city.
In actual, the government already launched some regulation according to green space but it need to be stricter.
Every developer of housing or building have to commit to provide the public green space or private green
space on their development. Other solution, the householder need to be obligated to plant at least one three in
front of their yard as the efforts to support the green space.

In conclusion the decreasing of green open space should be prevent based on the its benefits and the
elements such as government, society and developer should contribute and be participate actively to keep the
green space in the city.
