Name of entrepreneur: Catherine C. Cabuyao

Business: Small Sari- sari store

Catherine Cabuyao is a 39 years old lesbian who was an owner of a small sari
sari-sari store in their barangay in San Vicente Camarines
Norte. She started her business late 2015, from a small stall
in front of their house selling junk foods only. Until, there is
an opportunity that give her a hope in her business, one of
the main Sari-sari store in their barangay closed for some
reason. That is the time when she take risk and advantage
of the opportunity. She borrowed some money from her
mother and used it to rent a small space where the previous
Sari-sari store closed. Tat is where she start adding variety
to her store like E-load/Mobile data load which is very
popular among smartphone users, drinks and etc. “ Para
may hanapuhay, para sa pamilya yun nag tulak sakin na mag
negosyo” Catherine said. Family and job are the ones that motivated her to become an
entrepreneur. Because she needs money to support her family especially her lived in partner
and non biological daughter or not even blood related daughter but still she treats her as
her real daughter. She said “ Always think positive and maging madiskrte sa buhay
(resourceful)” are her characteristics that made her a successful entrepreneur. She don’t
want to be an employee because she wants to the boss herself where she owns her own
time and no one will dictate her what to do unlike in being an employee you can be abused
if you are not enough strong to protect yourself.
