Rural Health Unit

1. Contraceptive Prevalence Rate achieve

For 2022, the municipality, the modern family planning program was able to achieve an increase
of 2% compared to the last year’s target. The GAD budget served its purpose of attaining
uninterrupted supply of modern family planning commodities. From the 12.3% of the total
population of Men and women in reproductive age, a 73% availed free FP commodities
according to their choice and preference. Breakdown as follows:

2. Medicine and laboratory.

Increasing demand for medicines and laboratory work up is an anticipated incidence, thus the
municipality through the GAD Program prioritized the need to provide.

3. Nourishment for infanticipating mothers and malnourished children.

In response to GAD issue on insufficient nourishment for infanticipating mothers and


malnourished children, deworming activity for children and Buntis Congress were held.

A total of 3,257 from a target 5,764 children ages 1-4 years old were dewormed giving us a 56%
accomplishment, a decrease of 5% from last year. From 8 case of malnourished child being
monitored from the previous year, this year we were able to trace, monitor and provide food
and vitamin supplements for 5 moderate to severe cases. Pregnant mothers were able to
complete their iron supplement throughout their pregnancy and were able to gain vital learning
during the Buntis Congress held last November 24, 2022. Some eligible were also able to avail
the covid vaccine. Buntis kits were also given away to 220 pregnant women.
4. Unanticipated occurrence of HIV, TB, STI, Covid-19 and other infectious diseases

GAD’s response on this includes purchase of emergency drugs, vaccines, screening kit (Rapid
Antigen and HIV screening kits), condoms and IEC materials. Prevention control of infectious
diseases and outbreaks are the primary focus of this GAD issue. Activities like HIV screening, TB
detection through Gene xpert and Sputum exams were done to vulnerable groups like the immune-
compromised individuals.

Covid19 pandemic was an unanticipated emerging disease, a worldwide chaos, thus response
was prioritized. A significant number of PPE sets and other medical supplies were purchased for our
medical frontlines whose dedication and commitment to combat the spread of infection were
unquestionable by performing the monitoring, swab testing, Rapid Antigen tests, conduction and
duties to the isolation facilities. Purchase of Antigen test kits were prioritized as the enhanced PIDTR
(Prevent, Isolate, Detect, Treat and Reintegrate). Variants of concern were sternly monitored.
Confirmed covid 19 cases were treated, isolated and treated.

The NTP implements its TB control efforts through its updated Philippine Strategic TB Elimination
Plan. The Municipality was able to achieve a 96.3 %Treatment Success Rate (TSR) from the 190 cases,
183 completed the treatment. In the case detection, from 305 target cases, we were able to detect 290
cases, giving us 95 % Case Detection Rate. This was achieved through the implementation of major
strategies in screening, testing and diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

5. COVID 19 Vaccination Status

Intensive Covid 19 vaccination started last March 2021, this is in response to the pandemic
situation. The municipality, aside from the Covid 19 vaccine from the National government
initiated to purchase its own covid vaccines, to prioritize and to assure that the majority
population of Taal will be provided of the vaccine. A total of Forty Thousand doses of
Astrazeneca vaccine were purchased and now being downloaded to the LGU by tranche. To
maintain the momentum for increasing access to Covid 19 vaccines and continue support in
accelerating vaccine delivery ,to save lives and prevent people from becoming seriously ill.

6. Increasing number of expectant mothers availing of service from the birthing unit

This GAD issue was dealt with through providing enough manpower to cater the needs of
pregnant/ expectant mothers to achieve MDGs aim of reducing maternal and child mortality.
Deployment of Nurses and Midwives to attend to the needs is the most relevant activity done to
address the GAD issue. For year 2022, 733 pregnant women were seen and given pre-natal
care, educational, social, and nutritional services during pregnancy. 91% were attended by
the skilled birth attendant and 70 % delivered at the health facility. 2 deliveries at Taal Birthing
Home were attended by the local health personnel.
