VI. ASSIGNMENT #15

1. How valuable is it to learn and understand global warming and climate change?

Education is an essential factor in the ever more urgent global fight against climate change. Knowledge
regarding this phenomenon helps young people to understand and tackle the consequences of global
warming, encourages them to change their behaviour and helps them to adapt to what is already a
global emergency.

2. Do you think we can slow down or even reverse the effects of global and climate change?
Defend your answer.

Yes. While we cannot stop global warming overnight, we can slow the rate and limit the amount of
global warming by reducing human emissions of heat-trapping gases and soot. If all human emissions of
heat-trapping gases were to stop today, Earth’s temperature would continue to rise for a few decades as
ocean currents bring excess heat stored in the deep ocean back to the surface. Once this excess heat
radiated out to space, Earth’s temperature would stabilize.

3. As a student, cite some ways on how can we prepare for the impact of climate change.
