How does good decision making and conflict resolution process aid in group and individual
development?
Student’s Answer:

In one’s group the most important part of group work and tasking is decision making and conflict
resolution process is very important because in each group, all individuals all have a different agenda,
ideas, and ways of doing things to solve one problem. Decision making plays a huge role our plan and
make conclusion on implementing the plan into action. Decision making will depend on who has the
authority on a group whether it is one person decision or a decision that leads to majority of voting in
group it can be difficult depending on the problems and who has the authority which lead to a conflict
resolution process.

Before we arrive in final decision making there will be the conflict resolution process which involves
brainstorming, analyzing, and debating of ideas on one group will solve their problem and looking for
alternatives on what is the best way to achieve their objectives. Which is why conflict resolution has an
affect in not just ourselves but as well for the group development because there will always be those
people that might agree with your ideas and methods and there will be those people that might disagree
to you and to your other members which is why it is important to have a proper discourse about your
differences and disagreements by negotiating and assessing the nature of the conflict. This will help you
reach the final conclusion which will be connected to your decision making so you can address your
problems and achieve your objectives that will be beneficial for your group development.

Sometimes we are undecisive on what we want to do. Decision making and conflicts doesn’t just happen
in group activities, but it also happens within us which is why to solve this we must first reflect and take a
step back think on what we really want and need to arrive on what decision we want. The conflict might
involve other people which is why we are undecisive. One must need to stay focus and calm in every
situation and be sure to properly communicate with your self and others that will help you develop on
how you would make a good decision that will help on your individual development.
