AMAZING GRACE

Hi! I'm Grace, and I am as graceful as my name. I got these questions all over my
head: Why do people think science must be learned? Would that make our lives easier? I
might’ve not noticed this earlier, but I’m actually living a science-like kind of life. How so?
I can’t believe I have my answers now, and here they are.

I am someone who loves to go for a walk and meditate, especially every morning. I
also prefer walking whenever the night’s almost up, but I rarely have the time to do so
because I lead a hectic life. Additionally, I find mornings really meaningful because I think
they are a sign of boundless hope. It makes me face each day ecstatically.

Yes, I am a morning person who wakes up early to accomplish some tasks as early as
possible. I got no time to waste. But! That’s not always the case. I love mornings because I
appreciate the early hours added by the mesmerizing sunrise. The morning light is
everything to me. It’s not that hurting in the eyes and it feels good when its rays travel
through my skin, and I think it’s healthy. Whenever I go to the highway bridge where I can
see a magnificent body of water, I feel lightened up. I admire the scenery of the sunlight
that’s glistening to the ocean. I adore how the light's reflection causes the water to blink.
Oh, how lovely it is! That view may also appear at nights when the moon is visible. However,
I don’t have that much time to indulge in it. That could be the reason why I value mornings,
which is when I'm most available, more.

The morning light may be beneficial, but the sun is getting harsher over time. I'm
referring to its “heat”. Although I can sense it when I'm close to a fire, I can feel it most
strongly when I’m exposed to the heat of the sun. I guess that’s how heat works. I can
feel it, but I can never witness its presence. The fire is no longer needed to always make
me feel like I’m burning.

Who would have thought that heat can be transferred in different ways? Is it even
necessary when it's directly attacking you? Perhaps things move along quickly. You've
never paid attention to how things are done. Do I have to? Okay, I have to for my
awareness. I have to educate myself with that. One, the heat can be transported due to
the actual motion of the particles, which is known as convection. Two, the transfer is
caused by the vibrating of the molecules about their mean position, which is known as
conduction. And three, a transfer that employs electromagnetic waves (infrared waves) to
transfer heat from one location to another known as radiation, which has the potential to
dehydrate me, blind my eyes, and ruin the exquisite features of my skin. Isn’t it brutal? In
that case, I must be extra careful, but how?
I’m an adventurous person. Hiking and other outdoor activities that require physical
exercise excite me. As I make myself busy with physical activities, I'm being so conscious
about my looks, especially after my exposure under the heat of the sun. I keep complaining
whenever the heat touches my skin. It hurts and it feels like it's burning my skin. Good
thing, sunscreen exists. I always apply that one everyday so as to protect my skin from UV
rays of the sun. Sunscreen has Sun Protection Factor (SPF) which can give enough
protection to my skin.

My skin is protected, but the excessive light is hurting my eyes. I can't look
directly to a place I want and need to see. An expert advised me to wear sunglasses and
bring an umbrella with me to protect myself from the harsh sunlight, and it has worked
well for me.

My eyes have been sheltered, but the loud sounds from vehicles and people are
hassling me. I need a peaceful place to stay for a while and have some unwinding. I have no
control over the sounds around me, so I'll be the one to make adjustments. I'm not going
to add to the stress by being extra cautious. Avoid making unnecessary noises, and when I
listen to music with earphones, I won't listen at full volume. After realizing these things,
I’m now able to prioritize my health and live a better life away from the dangers that
extreme heat, light, and sound may bring.

See? More often than not, science is involved in everyday life. It's complicated, but
it's interesting to me. It may appear tough, but you will find it good after you have learned
about it. Whatever the case may be, I simply want to put more significance to beautiful
and pleasant things than to those that bring me discomfort, or I may as well face each
difficulty and constructively seek to solve and conquer it. If the heat of life continues to
hit, I'll always do something to shield myself from it, just the way I handle myself on a
daily basis. There's science everywhere I go. Unbeknownst to me, I had already mentioned
something scientific. Why not deal with things using science? Science, indeed, links the
dots, making life more intriguing.
