COMMON PERSONALITY / EXPERIENCES WITH THE CHARACTER:

OUTGOING- One of the characteristics of Abu nuwas that also have is being outgoing,
whatever the challenges or the situation is, either it’s hard or not I will just laugh it all
away and just go along with flow. I like to set the mood because I am friendly, and I
am confident in everything I do. Just like Abu nuwas being himself whatever the
situation is he is not scared and just show what he really is.

CARELESS- One of the experiences of Abu nuwas that I also experience is being
careless, because I have experience being careless in my life. Doing what I want and
not thinking the possible harm that may cause it. Just like Abu nuwas in the story he
suddenly took the great cup off at a single draught and soon felt the effects of the
heavy vintage. He didn’t think the possible harm or the causes of it before drinking it
because he is being careless, and that’s how he experienced them.

BRAVE- Same with Abu nuwas I am brave enough to pursue my dreams even theirs a
lot of hindrances I’ve been experienced.
CHARACTERS IN THE STORY WITH THEIR CHARACTERIZATION:

 Harun Al-Rashid (the khalifah) – The most famous Abbasid caliphs.

 Al- Amin (Son of khalifah)—He was the 6th Arab Abbasid
 Lady Zubaidah (Wife of Khalifah)—Abbasid princess.
 Beautiful Slave- She is the one who has the wisdom that caused khalifa and the
poet such awe and admire her.
 Abu Nuwas the poet- He is the famous Arab poets of the Abbasid era.
 Sharazad—She is the legendary queen who is the story teller narrator of the
nights.
 Jafar Al-Barmaki (the wazir)—He is a vizier of king shahrayar.
 Little Dunzayard---The younger sister of Scheherazade who initiates the tactic of
cliff-hanger to prevent her sister’s execution by shahryar.
 King Shahryar- He is a Sassanid king who inherits his father’s kingdom and
governs alongside his younger brother shahzaman, the king of Samarkand.
 Shahzaman (brother of king shahryar)- he is the Sultan of Samarkand.

BEST FEATURES:

 A genius of poet
o ABU NUWAS was indeed a genius of making a poem for he was known
for his unique, fun, extravagant and entertaining poetry.
 Witty
o He is good when it comes of coming up with jokes and even insult and
then deliver it through his poem

 Inventive
o All throughout the story ABU NUWAS has invent many poems, he create
3 poems for the boy with 3 different colour of tunics, and he also create
one for the beautiful slave
 Bold
o ABU NUWAS was a bold in a way that he is confident with his poem,
consciously or unconsciously he speaks what ideas he has that was also
closed to being frank.
 Brave
o We see him as a brave person as he can face even the upper class in his
times just like the Khalifah. Without any fear but instead with full
confidence.
THOUGHT/FEELINGS:

 Love
o Because he believe that every poem he create makes people feel that
they are loved.
 Hopeless
o In the story he felt hopeless as he was being punished just because of his
improvised poems.
 Happy
o ABU NUWAS feel happy every time he sees the smile of the people upon
hearing his poems and that inspire him to create more.
