2. Description of the device
With the UV curing chamber you have purchased a modern device for irradiating UV-
reactive materials. Please read the instructions carefully and follow the advice. Make sure
to consult the instructions for the proper use and safety instructions. The applications of the
UV chamber are very diverse. In addition to the usual tasks, such as curing and bonding,
the chamber used for irradiation for chemical and biological applications.
The UV chamber consists of the device housing (1) with an electric or manual closure
device (device version information) and a built-in appliances shell lamp unit (2). A robust
closure and appropriate safety interlocks ensure job security.

3. Application area
The UV irradiation chamber BK 850 is exclusively for curing UV - sensitive materials such
as paints, varnishes, adhesives and potting compounds. You can similar both in production
and in the laboratory to produce or repair be used.
One application for other drying processes, such as the drying of solvent-based materials is
not permitted!
With an appropriate concentration of the solvent can cause explosions! The UV irradiation
chamber is not suitable for use in hazardous areas. Any use other than described in this
manual is prohibited.

4. Safety information
The UV-Bridge corresponds to the actual technique standard and to the accepted safety
rules. Nevertheless dangers can appear.
The voltage for ignition of the UV-Lamp is ca. 4-5 kV. Therefor during all
tasks on the device, turn off the main switch and separate from power
supply - disconnect the plug! Danger for life! After Turn off, wait for
approx. 5 minutes for discharge of the condensers! Let the filter pane at
the front of the device cool down!
Operate the UV-Hand lamp only in a proper condition and take notice of
the user manual.
4.1 UV-Radiation
UV-Radiation produces the generation of ozone. Therefor take care about a sufficient
ventilation for fresh air.
Avoid a direct or indirect radiation to the skin by using suitable clothes. Additional to the
dosage of the radiation, the spectrum is from great meaning.
V 2.01e Page 9
4.1.3 Effect of UV-Radiation to the eyes
Avoid direct and indirect radiation of the eyes by using suitable safety precautions (i.e.
safety goggles).
Basically, safety precautions against UV-Radiation are not difficult, since it is „non transient
noxe“, which follows simple physically rules of extension. As well, the so-called indirect
possible imperilments of a short wave UV-Radiation, due to the production of ozone, can be
simply dominated by suction near to the source. It may be irradiated are no living beings of
any kind into this unit!
• Mark the areas, where especially high performance UV-C-lamps are installed.
• Carefully check for metallic items with smooth surface within the radiation area, which
can generate extensive reflections. (cover or paint)
• The use of light density protection covers, which only can be opened by tooling and
which are perhaps equipped with interlock switches.
• Flaps for material or similar easy to open orifices should be equipped with interlock
switches (safety switches) in any case.
Staff should be informed about the available UV-Radiation sources and the safety
precautions.
Therefor we recommend the letters of the Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz "Schutz vor
ultravioletter Strahlung" ( ISBN 3-88314-352-9 ).
For generation of UV-Light, the lamp contains a small amount of quicksilver. If the lamp will
be destroyed or breaks, steam of quicksilver drops out.
Safety precautions: Leave the room and ventilate properly. After that, take the rest of
quicksilver using suitable materials and waste. We recommend
the corresponding UV-Safety kit of the manufacturer.
