YOUR OWN EXAMPLE
PARAMETER 1. For example, if we
want to know the
situation of secondary
education in a certain
city, then all the each of
them is an individual. If
we select 10 secondary
schools from the city
according to some
sample rule, the 10
secondary schools
constitute a sample. In
this survey we might be
interested in the
graduation rate, so the
graduation rate is a
variable. What we
usually care about is the
average college-school
rate across the city and
this average here is a
parameter.
STATISTIC 2. At this time, we only
have the data about the
graduation rate of the
sample and the average
value calculated with
this sample is the
statistic.
