PERSONAL STATEMENT – AUBYN KWABENA EMMANUEL

As an entrepreneur and an aspiring business mogul it is relevant to build a solid network of investment

across continents. This can be made possible by selling one’s organization or idea through Accountancy,

which communicates an organizations financial standing by identifying strength and weaknesses as a basis

for considering a partnership or takeovers of a business through a financial decision.

Growing up in the capital of Ghana has made me witness what a determined mindset and positive action on

consistent basis can achieve irrespective of the boundaries.

My decision to take up Master of Professional Accounting is to aid Ghana liaise with the west in

investment and education which can be made possible through accountancy. Ghana over the past 10years

has proven itself as one of the fastest growing economies in the African regions, this growth is dominated

by Small & Medium Enterprises (SME). Some the problems faced by these SME’s are the lack of

budgeting and mingling personal and business funds together which I am optimistic this master’s program

will equip me with the set of skills and knowledge to address these issues and educate the SME

community.

I have a few businesses I currently run, and I see this program to introduce me to a bigger trade platform.

This is because the knowledge I will acquire through this program will equip me with the requisite skills

most multinational companies consider before entering any investment or partnership transaction.

Investment and partnership do not always come in form of cash and infrastructure but assistantship to

promising prospects.

After gaining my bachelor’s degree I perused my National Service from August 2018-2019 at the Ghana

Ports and Harbors Authority. Some of my duties were processing of waybills, ensuring International

Organizations for Standardization (ISO) were compiled and writing daily reports on field incidents. This

experience helped me build my writing and analytical skill since I was responsible for submitting daily

reports incidents. After my national service, I engaged in several businesses to utilize the knowledge I
acquired. I ventured into fast food business which went through the standard growth process of a business

till stabilized. However, at the climax of my business with 2 employees. Things began to fall till my

business became dormant. What I failed to do was to make some decisions based on my daily sales account

to avoid wastage of ingredients which reduced my profit margins. I placed measures to regulate the volume

of ingredients on certain days with the help of my daily sales records which now reflects in the steady

growth of my business. Additionally, I intend to take lessons from my mistakes to explore more

opportunities through education in other to overcome certain mistakes I have encountered. I believe the

Master of Professional Accounting program has a lot to offer in the management of my future businesses

through financial decision making.

My involvement in student politics lead me to hold the Position as Chairman, for the Council of Hall

Presidents and A Hall president through an election in my university. This leadership opportunity exposed

me to several extracurricular activities, notable among them was being a member of the Student

Representative Council General Assembly which made decisions for the entire student body of over

10,000. I also double as the Founder and President for my high school’s union in the University, our aim

was to build unity and support each other within our fraternity.

I am an avid sports man and I participated and won the 2nd position in Javelin (Men) during my inter hall

sports and games organized by the Sports Department in my University. This feat was possible because of

dedication and constant training of which I strongly believe this will guide me achieve excellence in my

Maters of Professional Accounting program. Additionally, I was also appointed as the Chairman, of the

Finance Committee for the National Service Union which had members above 500 at the Ghana Ports and

Harbors Authority.

In a nutshell, I hope to explore, discover, and share my knowledge to the world through education. I’m

inspired by the University’s relentless effort dedicated to addressing climate issues and their recognition of

higher education as a research institution. By pursing my master’s degree in Professional Accounting at

Clemson University. I hope to learn and interact with people from diverse cultures, build a firm knowledge
in the Professional Accounting field and finally employ the knowledge I have acquired to build my

businesses and society.
